"We stayed at the Ocean Maya during a girls trip and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The resort is beautiful, great restaurants on site and wonderful staff all around. One of our friends has a gluten allergy and they were very accommodating offering her great meal options throughout our entire stay. The rooms were large and comfortable, as were the beds. I would highly recommend the Ocean Maya to friends and family. "

"Wonderful attentive staff. Restaurants à la carte great and delicious. Buffet ranging from local food to Chinese to even poke bowls and sushi. The rooms clean and well stocked . Our favorite restaurant was the Italian The only little thing that could be improved would be the check in. It took way too long and after a full day of travelling all you want to do is get to your room and start to relax. The idea of a pre check in was wonderful but was not used at all in the end. Viva playa del Carmen. The power snorkel at xelha was toooo much fun."

"The rooms were very clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, outdoor pool was nice. There is no beach front and the seaweed has taken over what is there. The common areas were not busy at all, this may be due to part of the resort being residential. Overall a good resort. "

"Hotel overall was nice. However, one of the reasons we booked was the advertised free shuttle to the airport, but when we arrived, we were told we had missed a window to book and we had to pay ~$85 for transport. "

"Definitely overrated. Where do I start. 1) Upon arrival, you would think the check in would be much faster. Plenty of employees standing around which could be helping but aren’t. 2) I arrive at my room which has the walk-out pool and literally walked out to an 8 x 8 one foot max pool. Didn’t even connect to the main pool area. 3) On hotels.com it says (2) queen beds and they stated hotels.com doesn’t know anything about their process. After enough going back and forth, they moved us to the furthest area back which had (2) queen and walk-out pool. I shouldn’t have to spend hours of vacation sorting that out 4) we had a big family with us and they made it extremely difficult for us to eat together. I would understand if seating was limited, but the areas were 1/2 empty. You should accommodate your guests when possible and it was always possible but basically refused. 5) We were booked at the older Xcaret hotel area VS newer area. Newer area looked like a ghost town so maybe so overloaded the old side to make it seem fuller. Not sure 6) you don’t even have good beach access Overall, I won’t be going back. We’ve been to many other places with less expensive rooms, better views, better beaches, and better service"
