Great Accommodations for the Price
Best way to see NYC on the cheap. To those who complained about sharing a room with strangers, "What did you expect for $45/night?" The Brooklyn site was convenient to 3 Metro stops (at least). There is great security. But be prepared: you only get sheets, no blanket. You have to ask for towels and they are small and thin. Bring a robe because the hall bath has nowhere to hang or lay your clothes while in the shower. (They will get wet on the floor). The bathroom and halls are not airconditioned so an afternoon shower can be uncomfortable. Since you are sharing a room, you do not want to leave valuables (laptop, money, etc) in the room. Be prepared to take them with you. If you can handle all this, it is a great way to see NYC and spend your money on shows and attractions instead of on a place to sleep. PS - Dorm beds and pillows are not great. But again, you should be out enjoying NYC, not laying around in the room. By the way, I was probably the oldest guest I saw (51) not including the chaperons for youth groups staying there.
The room was totally different from the picture showing on the website, no one ever clean those rooms and the facilities were really old and dirty,if you want to do laundry, you have to pay axtra 5dollar just for using the machines which does not including the washing powder fee
Cheap, which was good, but very sloppy. I wish there was more cleanliness.

I wish I were a student again!
It's a dorm room, not a hotel. Had no great expectations and was appropriately rewarded. It was, hover, up to a standard that makes it someplace I might do again. It's location is excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful. But it is a dorm- not a hotel.
The description of the room claimed to be a bed in a room shared with one other female. Upon check in they tell me I'm with 3 other females. When I said what the web site had described they did nothing and sent me to my room to basically a small bed with a thin mattress. The girls in my room were sweet but it was false advertising . When I checked out the next day I complained and we checked the Expedia site. They had multiple listing that eluded that a person would have their own room or does not clarify anywhere that every single room had 4 occupants. They were pleasant to me but from what I heard from the girls on the floor ,some American and some foreign travelers , was that they were treated rudely and felt that they had been lied to by the staff. They had also been victims of false advertisement or false promises. I feel this place is taking advantage of young and foreign travelers.
Dont ruin your trip: liars,unprofessional,thieves!
The day before my trip I got an email that they will accommodate me at Queens hostel instead of Brooklyn which affected my whole trip. There is nothing around Queens dorm and its not even connected with Subway. Takes almost an hour to get to Manhattan. The receptionist who proclaimed herself a manager was rude and not even in a presentable attire. I requested 'travel allowance' for inconvenience and they offered to provide me but even today I have not received it, its been three weeks now. They said Queens stay will be free so when I requested refund of my money they started giving lame excuses then kept asking for my account details, credit card numbers etc, which I provided with in a few minutes of request but still they dint refund money. So eventually I contacted hotels.com and they helped me with it. Although even today I have not been reimbursed with inconvenience money.
