The location of the hotel was only a 10-minute walk from the Minsk Arena, where I was attending the European Figure Skating Championships. After that, it was easy to get a no.1 bus into the centre of town for sightseeing. It takes about 40 minutes by taxi to drive to The Sport Time Hotel (I paid £20 in sterling). The hotel has a 2-star rating so the facilities are basic but it’s very clean, warm & the rooms are spacious; it suited my needs perfectly & I would recommend it highly to anyone travelling on a budget.
American dollars, Euros & Russian Roubles are readily accepted but the first bank I went to could not change Pounds Sterling & my UK bank couldn’t give me Belarus Roubles!
I look forward to another trip to Minsk but in the summer, when I’ll be able to see the meandering river & the many parks; you can’t appreciate how very green this city clearly is when it’s covered with snow & ice!
