"Memorable Experience"
Basically it all depends on what you are looking for. If you want a ritzy all out resort with huge pools and all the bling this isn't for you. If you want a great beach to hangout on, down to earth, fun, courteous staff, clean rooms, good food and a laid back memorable experience this place is might be for you. I had a great time here and would definitely go back.

"An excellent experience after an initial hiccup"
Over all our experience at the Grand Park Royal was excellent after over coming an initial hiccup. We booked a room in the Royal Tower (the adults only section of the resort.) Then when we check in, the receptionist says "I'm gonna be honest with you, we over booked the tower so we don't have the room you booked available." At this point she brought in Ernesto who offered us a room in one of the new Villas. He took us to see the room before we agreed and the room was great. I was not happy that they did not have the room I book available. Once I saw the room I told Ernesto we would take it as long there would not be children in that section. He assured me that section of the resort was quite and there would be no kids. Our first night in the villa was great, the second night a family with kids checked in to theTh room next to us, which meant jumping and splashing in their plunge pool, lots of yelling and banging on doors which was annoying, and the reason I book a room in the adults only section of the resort. Thankfully the parents managed to get their kids under control and it did not become an issue. Aside form the issue with our room, everything else was excellent. The bar tenders in the lobby bar were great, we had a lot of fun hanging out there. Our waiter in the buffet, Aaron, was a lot of fun. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. They are always cleaning so the grounds are pristine. The food was very good at all of the restaurants and the buffet.

"Amazing suites with great facilities"
I have stayed in about 12 different Cancun hotels. This one has amazing suites with every amenity for families or couples that want a self sufficient condo for their vacation. The suites come with a full size kitchen and a massive covered balcony that 6 people can relax on. Very nice pools and beach views from every room. Has a store in the complex for most basics but some things are cheaper across the street at the corner store.

    Pocket Guide: Cancun

    Step back in time

Famed for its ancient origins as much as its current-day bustle, Cancun's Mayan Ruins take in striking architecture, spectacular art, and culturally diverse structures. Between the 1980s and the present, Cancun has transformed itself from a jungle village into a diverse holiday resort comprising ancient relics and sandy beaches, and providing a haven for water sports fanatics and beach holidaymakers alike. Buttressing south-east Mexico's coastline, this part of the Yucatan Peninsula contrasts Caribbean-facing luxury hotels with bars and restaurants overlooking the romantic Nichupte Lagoon.

Ancient Mayan Cancun has more than left its mark on the modern incarnation of the city - most obviously in the form of Chichen Itza, the cultural center of Cancun. The Kukulkan Pyramid forms a striking figurehead, standing at a height of over 75 feet as part of the ancient mysterious city. It's also worth spending some time at the archaeological site so that you can experience the less obvious points of attraction, such as the Cenotes (sinkholes), an ideal setting for a solid day's freshwater swimming.

    Interact with nature

Enjoy views of the Cancun jungles with some horseback riding --it's the freest way to explore the matchless destination of Cancun, a truly different taste of the Mexican way of life. And why not swim with dolphins? You can be a part of their aquatic world, and experience their serenity and benevolence face-to-face. And if that's still not enough then why not visit Xcaret, an ancient Mayan village which now comprises an underground river, aquarium, and aviary? It's a truly unique experience - an otherworldly paradise.

If thinking outside the box is your thing, spend some time in Tulum; set atop a cliff overlooking the Caribbean, Tulum is home to Xel-Ha, the world's largest natural aquarium. Tulum's structures date back more than seven centuries, and the 40-foot high El Castillo pyramid is the aesthetic focus.

    Regional specialities

Downtown Cancun gives a taste of the local way of life with a plethora of regional specialities ready and waiting. Be it indigenous cuisine, live music, or local handicrafts you're after, it's all there; it's a taste of the true Mexicana to contrast with the Americanized city center.

Accommodation can mainly be found in the famous Zone Hotelera, an area shaped like a '7' featuring bridges connecting to the mainland. Rough beaches envelop the vertical side of the '7', while the horizontal end provides a tropical paradise for surfers and sun-seekers alike. The 14-mile beach stretch is where the city comes alive at night; the vast selection of bars and clubs means there is bound to be one to suit your taste. The area undertakes the great feat of transforming itself from the world's second largest coral reef during the daytime to a lively party city at night.
