Excellent Hotel to relax and have a good time with the family! My kids (3 and 6 years old) truly enjoyed the Star Camp facilities. They loved the trampoline and the A/C indoor playground area. The pool was huge, clean, and beautiful, plus ordering drinks was a breeze. The friendly staff in all areas was pretty cool too! I also enjoyed the fitness center which offered pretty cool classes. I only did the weight room but saw pretty cool classes such as Zumba, Kickboxing, and TRX with good trainers. They also had Yoga, Zumba, and training at the beach. The beach was nice but did not visit much. For the most part, the sargassum was minimum. It was my first time in Playa so it hard to compare. The food/buffet was good quality with healthy choices and the cappuccinos at the bars where something else! The shooping center was pretty cool with Mexican restaurants, shops, cool playground and disco. The only thing that they should change is the reservation for the specialty restaurants. They only allow one reservation per three nights which I believe its not very good practice. I will definitely come back again!

After huge research our family of four decided to choose Iberostar del mar.Other family of friends joined us at the property. We were disappointed to find out we only can have 3 ala cart dinners for 8 days stay. It took us forever to book our dinners but when we came to the restaurant all places were half empty. Furthermore, we were limited in how much we can order but portion size was like for 3 years old kids. My husband joked when we got our food in smoke house “ is it appetisers?”.The territory of the hotel is beautiful but HUGE!!! The supposedly have golf cards circulating around but realistically you can only get for sure from the lobby. We called 3 times and waited half hour with small children on the rain but it never came. We were walking under the rain and we’re late for our reservation.There is simply not enough transportation, food and drink places through such a large territory.Another disappointment we had it was choice of alcohol.Most drinks were made from alcohol out of plastic bottles.Wiskey choices were only red label and passport ( I have never heard it before).You can argue me that this is the lowest tier of Iberostar hotel but they still charged me $5500 for 8 days stay.The food in buffet was ok, as well as rooms, but nothing special.Another thing is a swamp next to lobby. The water is so old and green it’s simply smells so we were avoiding that area. For comparison in Lindo the water is blue and fresh.We are extremely dissatisfied and never coming back.

Beautiful property with lots of wild life. A bit spread out so could be tough if you can’t walk a lot. Pool area has lots of options and activities. Excellent beach area. Needs better night life between 7-9 pm

Beautiful property. Rooms are spacious. The pool is large enough you can find quieter areas away from the busy area. Most staff were wonderful and kind. Front desk staff is my only complaint. Upon arrival they were abrupt and upon leaving, they were rude. Not a representation of the rest who are welcoming, helpful, and courteous.

Landscaping is beautiful. Staff is very nice. Check-in staff are not very accomodating. Drinks at pool are very watered down, no service around pool. Tried to upgrade to the members area for better service and drinks and they made it very hard to do that - i walked away. Food was as expected. Overall, I won't come back again.

The property was massive. But easy to find your way in each area. They only give you one dinner reservation for every three days you stay, which was not ideal, but the dinner buffet was quite good. Our keys continually needed to be re-keyed to our rooms, which was very inconvenient. You never knew when you were going to be locked out of your room. Staff was kind and helpful, pools well cared for. Good food, fun cocktail menu and bars near pretty much everywhere you were. Beach was nice. Good chairs and covered areas to sit. Swimmable area.

Restaurant options are very limited, and difficult to book. Half of the restaurants are not air conditioned and poorly lit. If you aren't promptly on time for a reservation you will be turned away, and forced to eat at the buffet AGAIN. The buffet selection is predictable and limited. Shallow pools around lobby are full of algae and disgusting.
