"This hotel is rich in history and you can see it really was a gem in it’s day however we found the staff to be a little on the rude/brisk side of things and not super helpful. the hotel unfortunately needs some repairs that have been neglected like one elevator broke and never was repaired in the five nights we stayed there. There are broken light fixtures in the main lobby, which is a shame because this property deserves better. Front entry doors were also staggered open so it was difficult during busy times to get in and out of the hotel. The lake view room was pretty great view but again in kinda rough shape. The internet is a joke and apparently you can cast to the TV but we could not get it to work with either laptop or our phones. Someone needs to take better care of this Gem. Great location walkable to many activities such as navy pier, Chicago River, south loop and much more"

"Quiet hotel in a residential neighborhood. Nearest shops and restaurants are about two blocks away. Bus stops are also easy to walk to. Location is really close to the lake -- I recommend taking in the views at Belmont Harbor. The hotel is in an older building that has some quirks, but I really enjoyed my stay. The staff is excellent. I also like the common room downstairs -- very comfy and cozy, with coffee, a shared microwave, and disposible plates and utensils. "

"Overall, I had a really good stay at this hotel. The room and common areas were very clean, which is always one of the most important things to me when traveling. Most of the staff were also very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The two times I interacted with the front desk, the employees were welcoming and quick to help with any questions I had. There was one front desk staff member who wasn’t the most pleasant, but luckily I only encountered him once. The other staff members more than made up for it with their great customer service. The amenities were fairly limited. There was no room service, housekeeping, or breakfast available, so it’s definitely more of a basic stay. Because of that, I think this hotel works really well for a quick trip or short stay. Overall, I had a positive experience and would stay here again for a short visit, but if you’re planning a longer stay and want more amenities, you might want to consider other options."
