Universal Studios is one of the oldest studios in Hollywood still in operation. Visitors are given the chance to watch movie making in action and also sample an adrenaline pumping roller coaster ride.
The majority of the rides and attractions are themed and based on popular films and television shows from the Universal Studios diverse arsenal. Defy gravity and prepare to have your bones rattled on the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster or feel shivers run up your spine on the Jurassic Park ride. The unique special effects of Shrek in 4-D will blow you away and fire your imagination to new heights. True to style, Hollywood does not do small rides. Fused with pyrotechnics, state-of-the-art technologies and big budgets, the rides here are innovative and border on the revolutionary.
The Studio Tour is still the park’s most treasured attraction. You’ll be whisked away on a tram ride through the heart of Hollywood’s most famous back lots where you’ll get the chance to see the birth place of some of history’s greatest movies and experience some special effects, including earthquakes, floods and fires.
The encounter with Jaws is still an all-time favourite years after the film was first made. There’s now an even more spectacular attraction that can’t fail to grab your attention. Find yourself face to face with the 360 3-D King Kong and sample the immersive ride created by multiple Academy Award winning writer and director Peter Jackson.
For those wanting to take a break from the excitement, take a stroll down Universal’s CityWalk and discover three blocks of entertainment, dining and shopping areas.
First opening its doors to the public in 1915, back when Carl Laemmle charged people 25 cents to watch silent movie scenes being filmed, the Studio’s reputation has rapidly grown and is today a worldwide icon.
Located 16 kilometres northwest of downtown Los Angeles, Universal Studios is an all year round attraction. Queues become long very quickly, so it’s best to get there in plenty of time, before the gates open.

Reviews of Universal Studios Hollywood
4/5 - Good
The Orlando centre is better except the bus tour
4/5 - Good
Although I still had a lot of fun, it isn't as big as I thought if I'm being honest. When there isn't a lot of queuing time for the rides, you could pretty much do the full thing in a few hours. And watch out for the things such as buying the beers from the attactions, such as butterbeer from Harry Potter world and a DUFF beer from Moe's bar in Springfield although fun to get they really rocket the prices! Paying nearly $40 for two beers is a bit shocking!
