"Had a lovely stay at this hotel. What a beautiful setting, the grounds were impressive and the location means it’s easy to hop onto a bus into York. The on site pub was convenient after a relaxing visit to the spa. My room was in a quiet location with lovely views. The only negative was the room was a bit chilly on waking. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would stay here again."

"Great location. Great staff. Could be fantastic but very old and in poor condition inside . Could use a complete renovation as very old. Dirty faded hallway and stair carpeting, chipping paint, old wallpaper and dated room decor and bathrooms . Has such potential as great location and staff and charming outside but needs an update. Needs new updated AC and heating system and modern technology "

"The Old Lodge is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and comfortable rooms but the main standout thing for us was the service - because we were going to a wedding we had to deal with very weird checkin times. Gracie explained everything to us and did everything she could to give us a perfect experience. Gracie's service made what would have been a very stressful travel situation into something pleasant and comfortable and we had a great time staying at the Old Lodge!"

"My only quibble was that the room had ow sloping ceilings so that as I am 1.93m it made life a little hard! Staff, food and facilities were excellent."
