Room was freezing, with a portable oil radiator and a view of the royal mail dispatch centre. Pillows were like bricks and made me ill, complained and was moved room, but still freezing and also a constant droning noise in both rooms.

I liked the grandness of the hotel on arrival and we arrived earlier than planned to our plans changing due to the snow and the gentleman on the check in was very welcoming chatty and 2 out of our 3 booked rooms were ready which was very handy for freshening up and having somewhere to put our luggage. The rooms were on the small side and it was too warm which made it uncomfortable, our room also looked over the back of the train station which at times was very noisy. Some of the staff were rude and came across like they could not be bothered being there the 2 barman working on Saturday 27th November around 8pm were especially rude and ignored myself and my boyfriend when waiting to order and served everyone else first even a guy that walked up and shouted his order then went and sat down ! The breakfast was very expensive for what it was and a lot of the hot food options were cold. You had to constantly keep asking for hot drinks which was very annoying.

Firstly the positives. A lovely building in a great location. Unfortunately let down by the fact that an item clothing belonging to the previous occupant was left under the table. In the COVID world this is entirely unacceptable. I was only there 1 night & complained on checkout. I was told the manager would ring me & 5 days later I’m still waiting for the call.

It is a very old building which in some areas could do with a bit of an update. Our room (5111) was on floor -1 which was a bit of a trek to get to meant us passing through various corridors and past event rooms and through some funky smelling corridors, one which smelt like a farm and another which smelt like a sewer but when we got to our corridor it smelt fine. Our room was very nice, very large clean bed, bit of paint peeling in the shower but this wasn’t an issue. Steam extractor in the bathroom wasn’t working so after a hot shower we received a knock on the door asking if everything was ok because the smoke alarm want off in the room due to the steam. Great location.

Beautiful building and the lobby and public spaces in the main building are glamorous. If you are placed in the annexe unfortunately it is a very different experience.
