Overall a great resort. Would stay again, but a couple of criticisms:
1) No shuttle bus from the hotel to Cancun airport. It's very annoying to have to pay a minimum of $80 for a taxi and get ripped off, Uber doesn't cover Playa del Carmen unfortunately.
2) Bit more entertainment required in the resort for adults - no sports bar! That was really annoying as I wanted to be able to watch sport somewhere.
3) Dining - almost every evening we would end up dining in one of the restaurants with LOUD, obnoxious Americans. Really tedious as they don't have any consideration for anyone else. Several times, we asked to be moved to a quieter table or asked the hostess in advance, but this was ignored. If you have a large group of loud Americans, put them in a soundproof room or something, don't let them ruin everyone elses evening!
The plus points :
1) Excellent service, staff were wonderful.
2) Food overall was pretty good except at the beach bars where it was a bit bland. The breakfast in particular is one of the best we've had at any hotel. Fuego and Sal were pretty epic!
3) Hotel room was lovely and generally quiet, clean and had a nice view.
We felt overall that the hotel was good value for money, and with a few tweaks like a sports bar with a pool table and shuttle bus, it would be absolutely world class!
