Beautiful resort! When we arrived we were provided the wrong room, reception staff said they could change our room the following day, but it seemed like a hassle. Food was underwhelming. Don Rafael buffet saved the day. The theme restaurants were ok. Overall food was stale and appeared old. The resort staff was friendly, attentive, and very pleasant!

Best Riu I have been to yet! Buffet was great, many options. 5 sit down dinner restaurants were pretty good, but I preferred the variety of the buffet. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Very clean. Standard room had a soaker tub!! Activities to do all day: beach volleyball, foam party, bingo, pool lounging, water aerobics. Full gym and outdoor fitness classes. Several bars, swim up bar was very nice. I can’t wait to go back. Exceptional nighttime entertainment with live music, karaoke, white party - they keep your day filled with great stuff. And you get access to the other neighboring Riu’s - make sure to check out Riu Tequila for the night club!

Our private car company was over 2 hours delayed so when we arrived we just wanted to check in quickly/easily-THIS WAS DONE with them giving us a drink in hand, taking our luggage to our room so that we could go and eat and relax. Resort is easy to navigate and everything is logically where it should be. Restaurants are divided at the main building and by the beach and you can eat at any/any time albeit the main buffet food is beyond incredible. The pools never get overcrowded and you can always find chairs at the pools or the beach easily (and we were there the key break week). The beach does drink service and the watersports facility is on the beach at the resort and costs to do all the fun stuff is very reasonable (having stayed at several resorts in last 12 months in mexico-their prices were equal if not lower!). Guests range from young couples/young families to the fully retired and living it large and resort caters to each group well. Entertainment was fun and unique (silent party, Riu White night at Sister resort, Rock night & fiesta night etc were a few highlights) and layout of the resort minimizes noise to the rooms. Coffee Bar great addition for early morning and late night treats! All staff were friendly, helpful and made sure anything you needed you got. You can walk into Playa from the hotel or take a quick cab in for $10.00 and cost to airport was only $58.00 US. (i recommend that vs. booking a car company!)Truly lives up to the name PALACE.

Facilities were clean and well kept. It was large enough to not feel crowded. Entertainment team worked hard to keep things lively. Food was very average. We found it to be a 4-star hotel with 3-star food choices. The 'restaurants' appeared to be food from the buffet line. We have gone to other Cancun hotels where the restaurants offered actually different food choices compared to the buffet. The beds were also stiff with rough sheets.
