"Overall a nice, boutique feel hotel but the lighting in the room is pathetic. It is so dark by the sink and vanity it requires a cellphone flashlight - no joke. If you need to look presentable for an important engagement, stay elsewhere."

"This was a motel, not a hotel. Had I known that I wouldn’t have booked for personal safety reasons. Which leads to if you’re not familiar with the area, it’s not the best. The pictures of the room were better than it was. It looks like they had remodeled and done so very cheap and poorly. I couldn’t believe the extra grout just slabbed in places in the shower. The only saving grace were the pillows and the bed being decent. "

"This place some how goes by three different names! The check in was extremely difficult! The parking only accommodates 1 vehicle. The ceiling fans in the rooms didn’t work, on arrival the suite was hot, it smelled of wet dogs! The entire facility smells. I couldn’t figure out how to close the window blinds in the living area, they actually looked broken. This place looks like you’ve entered a jail or prison facility, if I had to describe one. The entire suite couldn’t cool down even after adjusting the temperature. The reservation was for two nights, we stayed one night. I will not book here again! The only good thing was their direct point of contact was very responsive and helpful."

"The Hotel San Carlos is like a museum. It has an old timey feel to the place. Yet it is well maintained. I thought the Hotel oozed character. There was no refrigerator, and the air conditioner was on the whole time, that I had no control over. Sometimes it actually was too cold. The internet was sketchy. There was a sign on the elevator Informing guest that there were issues with the internet, particularly on the upper floors. So, you might want to try to get a room on the lower floors. I was on the top floor which was the seventh floor. But I loved the place. For the price it was a great deal. Also, the Hotel San Carlos has suites like the Cary Grant and the Mae West and Marilyn Monroe which are not available from Expedia and Hotels .com etc. etc. Those suites have to be booked directly thru the Hotel San Carlos. I had the opportunity to see The Marilyn Monroe Suite. It was really nice. Many actors stayed at the San Carlos back in that era."
