"Fabian the family concierge is amazing! He’s thoughtful, helpful and kind! Goes above and beyond! Family side is exactly what it says - family side! Nothing much for adults, no animation team. Staff super friendly. The beach is not seen from the hotel, you need to walk past a mangrove to get to it. However, the seaweed was so horrible the beach can not be used and it smells. The staff works from sun up to sunrise trying to clean it but it’s nature. If you don’t care about the beach then it’s good family resort. The entertainment on family side, don’t bother it’s that bad. I’ve stayed at many resorts and I wouldn’t recommend this UNLESS you have a family, want a swim out pool room and don’t care about the beach. Best part of trip was the swim out room, pool waitress and concierge Fabian! He brought fish food, decorated bathtub, gifts etc. Also popsicles, ice cream, coffee, cake and restaurants all good!!!"

"Rooms were fantastic! The staff were all very attentive and kind. Pools are warm and spacious but the spa was a bit pricey considering US prices are lower in local areas. However, most of the food is very bland bordering nasty and all drinks are very watered down, 4/10 from me kind of disappointing given all of the food and bar options. Over all the resort is beautiful nice architecture, clean and has a good balance of nature embedded in the atmosphere. Absolutely love all of the native animals around (family of monkeys were adorable), definitely more than any other resort property I’ve ever experienced."

"We absolutely loved our stay! We had a group of 14 ranging in ages from 10 to 60 and we all had a wonderful time. The resort is gorgeous and has wildlife to see everywhere. The beach cove was so nice with soft sand. Our favorite place to eat was the beach buffet. We also loved the nicer restaurants! We made reservations at the seafood restaurant, the steakhouse, and the Mexican restaurant. All were fantastic. The drinks were good and there were tons of options! We also loved being able to walk into Xcaret Park to float the rivers to cool down in the afternoons. We did one day at Xplore. Highly recommend for families with teens. The food was great at Xplore as well! The staff at the Occidental were so nice and helpful. We loved staying in building 20. It is right next to multiple pools and the snack bar buffet. It was also close to the beach."

"Barcelo Maya Palace was an absolute paradise! My family stayed for five nights and really did not want to leave by the end. The resort is huge and you are never wanting for things to do. My two teenagers were completely happy to just hang out in the gorgeous pool closest to our room, though there were myriad other free activities we could have done. The facilities including our room, pools, walkways, dining halls, restaurants, and beach were immaculate. The staff was really the greatest part of our stay, every single person we interacted with was kind, courteous, helpful, and so very accommodating. Everything about this resort is set up for your maximum enjoyment and relaxation. The food served here was another highlight, not only was it delicious, and mostly made from whole, fresh food, but there was a huge variety (even for someone like me who is a vegetarian and a very picky eater)! If you want to travel off the resort they have plenty of adventures you can plan. My family and I had the adventure of a life time hiking the Mayan ruins at Coba and swimming in the Gran Cenote. All in all, this resort is worth every penny you spend. 10/10 highly recommended!!"
