We stayed in a room in the Carlton, was large enough for 2, had everything we required ie hairdryer, iron, kettle etc.
Had a lovely buffet breakfast in the cairns hotel.
Lots of eateries in local area.
Handy for metro
Great stay at this hotel great staff the room was comfortable and spotless. The continental breakfast was above our expectations. I would definitely stay here again
We arrived to check in and told we would be staying in the sister hotel over the road .
Had no problems with the hotel it was clean safe & quite as we were on the top floor . Considering it was between 2 busy bars we heard no noise at all . Very warm room & plug didn’t work in the bath but for £39 you can’t complain ! We opened the window & had showers .
The rooms were lovely. The carpark was a nightmare however. It was double parking.

Well, not for the feint hearted and always read the small print when booking this hotel. I was in a separate building literally above the 2 busiest pubs in the area! But, tbf there was no excessive noise after midnight! I now know why it was cheap, though!
The room was functional and clean. I even had a little table where I could do some work. And I could watch footbal from my bedroom window as I could see the outside TV in the pub's garden area.
I was still young enough (at 54) to appreciate youngster's enjoying themselves.
Newcastle centre was a 30 min walk and was on a direct bus routed. Lovely boutique cafe's and bakery shops close by.
Just don't choose this place if you want quiet or are a light sleeper!
Biggest gripe was the shower because it had the appalling sweet spot where a millimetre turn on the dial it was freezing cold or piping hot (and I mean piping!).

Ended up staying at the other hotel across the street, the Carlton.
Bit of a pain in the ass to carry luggage down the street, then up a bunch of flights and through locked doors.
At least the place felt secure for what that’s worth.
Service is not great since you have to go back to the other hotel to get anything since there’s no staff at all at the Carlton.
There’s no refrigerator in the room so if you have any dietary restrictions this is not the hotel for you.
I can’t say anything much about the hotel staff one way or another but when I asks for more hot beverage supplies they were accommodating

Very pleased with the room at this price. Far more spacious and better equipped than anticipated. Large bath/shower room. Plenty of tea , coffee and milk ( unlike many other places ) . We added breakfast to our stay, which was also really very good. Very polite and super-friendly service in the adjoining bar/cafe. No complaints here whatsoever Next time we’re in Newcastle for a night away , this is where we’ll come . Thank you

We were put across the road in the sister hotel and the noise was terrible we were put in a room right up from the bar and the noise was terrible from afternoon till night i think when older people book they should warn them about the noise they gave us earplugs which did not help us at all we were looking for a nice break as i had been in hospital and it was spoiled by all the noise we won’t be back at that hotel
Very basic room, quite stuffy. Very noisy, not from the bar but from people all along the corridor, walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. Limited sleep because of this.
Wrong room size specification for superior room. Bathroom smelled all the time and made the room quite uncomfortable to stay. I'll prefer to not stay here again.
Put in hotel over the road, unable to sleep due to noise. TV broken. Will be requesting a refund. Had previously stayed in main hotel with no issues, but no advice on booking about which hotel you will be placed in.
The check-in chap was super helpful. The room was modern, clean and well designed. Everything was 100% great. The only slight negative that the parking was limited. The chap on reception was super helpful and sorted me out and all was great. I would 100% stay there again. The parking issue was a tiny blip on what was otherwise a great stay in a super hotel.

The hotel was really good value. The room was clean, and the breakfast was excellent.
My only complaint would be the level of noise from the onsite bar area
Great location
Great staff
Free limited parking
Good beer and more importantly a great vibe. Student area so nice and busy. Only thing was it’s noisy as the walls are thin so you can hear other rooms talking and doing other things let’s say. And the twin beds are very small and not that comfy. I really didn’t sleep well at all
Didn’t like going across the road for breakfast although breakfast was ok . No body around in the Carlton to ask for anything.

Affordable but did it's job
Dates but did it's job. Stayed for a night in the Carlton across the road which is part of the hotel. It's an old building and doesn't seem like it's had a lot of work done to modernize it. The rooms are dim and dated and incredibly warm, it was a cool day outside but uncomfortably warm in the room. Saying that it was affordable and did it's job.
tel before and was happy to return. Was sent across the road to their Carlton rooms.
A little more dated but not a problem.
Stayed on top floor 502. As I walked in the smell of cigar smoke or similar was overpowering.
Not sure what the smoking policy was but room stank. I would have requested a move but would have to cross the road to main hotel and was already tight for time.
Some of the towels were also discoloured.. just hated sleeping in a smokey room.
