The hostel is right next to the British Museum, and close to many of the popular tourist sites. The staff is really helpful and friendly. I’ll definitely stay there again when I visit London in the future.

Amazing staff. Everyone does their job well: receptionists were helpful and friendly, sheets and toilets were probably the cleanest I've ever seen in hostels. Super satisfied with my stay. Thank you guys!

Good: - The room was a good size with simple furnishing, true to pictures - Showers are a good size but see below. - There is a phone which directly connects to the main building reception. Bad - The rooms and the stairs are not soundproof at all. Noise resonates a lot. - The doors are all heavy but the closing mechanism is very hard, and thus when they close they always bang loudly. The main house seemed to have dampened mechanisms. - You wouldn't expect to need a notice to remind guests, yet other guests feel it is acceptable to make a lot of noise after 11pm, ignoring that other guests might be trying to sleep. - Room 1 is right next to the external door, which is where we were, so the lack of soundproofing, selfish guests, poor door mechanisms, and noisy stairs, meant we got very little sleep. - We complained at 1:30am and there was some respite, but the noise continued through the night. - There is no internal door lock - it has been removed. - Despite room amenities listing a shower/toilet, it is in fact shared. There were 3 showers and 2 toilets on our floor and the one below. The problem with older buildings is you have to make the effort for them to be hospitable for sleeping. Astor hasn't, and thus the experience is terrible. Sorry.

Great walking distance to many city attractions, perfect access to most of area by bus (less than 5 mins walk to closest bus stop - connects to major area in London) or metro (less than 10 mins walk to Holborn). Clean and tidy room and bathroom - friendly supportive staff member through out the stay! One thing would be the staircase you have to use if you are staying at the upper floor - and have heavy luggage. Will definitely stay again for next trip.

Good location but that is as far as that goes! I have been in more than a dozen hostels and this has been the worst in terms of noise which is obviously expected but not to that level! Had to leave at midnight!

It was my first time in a hostel and I felt very uncomfortable sleeping with 5 more strangers. I would not do it again. However, this is a personal experience, not much related to the hostel.

Fab place to stay
Stayed here for a solo trip to London. Staff were really welcoming and friendly. I felt safe the whole time and it was very close to the centre. Would definitely come back here!

Simple, clean and convenient
I needed a no frills bed for the night for an early business meeting the next morning. This place is perfect if you don’t need your usual hotel associated facilities and just need somewhere to put your head down and sleep.

The staff were kind, the room was clean, and the bathroom was the cleanest, so I really liked it. And the best part of all is that it's close to the British Museum, so I loved it because it's a hostel in a good location!! If I visit London again, I will stay again. Thanks to you guys, I made good memories in this hostel!

Les photos sont assez loin de la réalité. Les parties communes ne sont pas très propres avec beaucoup de bricolage maison. Les chambres sont plus petites que sur les photos. Attention il se peut que vous alliez dans l’annexe de l’hôtel qui est un bâtiment à 2 min à pied mais dans lequel il n’y a pas de cuisine, lounge, et qui est moins bien entretenu. Seule la localisation en vaut le coup

Hi there,thank you for your review, Sorry to hear you didnt enjoy your stay. The second building or as we call it is the annexe is located a very short walk away and houses our basic dorm rooms hence why they are at a cheaper price as they only have the basics. As with all older London Buildings we are limited to what we can do regarding the restructure and maintenance due to preserving the integrity of the buildings and I agree we have an amazing location!
