Clean , friendly staff, great location

This is a great B&B and I thoroughly recommend it. It’s a central location and the parking permit is an added bonus. It makes a great base for exploring Ambleside or the wider Lake District.

A lovely peaceful property with easy access to Ambleside and walks over to Rydal. A brilliant breakfast and the hotel itself was so clean. We would love to return soon

The weather was terrible but Matthew and Lucy more than made up for the lack of sunshine with their friendliness. Elder Grove is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in and would highly recommend it to others. They provided a hearty breakfast and were more than happy to cater for everyone’s likes and dislikes. Many thanks! Very happy!

Lovely hosts who had plenty of useful knowledge. Great breakfast which kept us going all day. Comfy bed. Lots of nice pictures and ornaments throughout the house. Big brollies came in very useful too.

We stayed one night at the Victorian house as we had planned a last minute visit to the lakes due to particularly good weather forecast for this time of year. The staff were very welcoming; the room was as described ‘cosy’ and furnished beautifully. The breakfast was of a high standard with plenty of choice. We would definitely look to stay again, especially as it was such good value for money and right in the centre of the village.

We've just spent a lovely week at the Queen's Head at Troutbeck, Windermere. Lovely staff. Great food. Just near enough Windermere without being in the hustle and bustle and easy walks right from the door! We hope to return again soon.

Excellent rooms (all 3 rooms in our party were Superior roons & all we excellent), lovely breakfasts & friendly helpful sraff. The only negatives were the hand wash did not work & despite leaving the top off it was not replaced . Also the tea/coffee was not replaced after use ub

We had a 2 night stay in late August. The hotel although busy maintained a quiet environment. The grounds and gardens are gorgeous and difficult to tear oneself away from. Rooms are of a good standard but on our next visit I would ask for one with a lake view. Breakfast is good but the 4 course evening meal was outstanding (and good value for the quality) All the staff we encountered went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. All in all a genuine 5 star experience.

Great hotel, great location and lovely staff. Very welcoming and friendly. Bus 591, 555 stops just outside the hotel and can take you anywhere whether it’s Windermere, Grasmere, Keswick all very easy to commute. Some great restaurants around. Staff extremely friendly at the reception. Breakfast top notch - 10/10 for Manuel who takes orders at the brekkie area , always smiling. Would highly recommend.

Loved our break, staff were very friendly & were happy to help. Our room was spotlessly clean with excellent views & a very comfy bed. Will definitely be booking here again

This is the third time we have stayed at the Rothay Manor and we were not disappointed. The whole experience from beginning to end was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts and the evening dining was a joy (word of caution - not really suitable for those who expect a large serving of meat and two veg followed by pud as the menu reflects the creative flair of the celebrity chef and is a whole facinating dining experience in itself). After a long day walking, checking into The Churchill was quick. Great parking, near to pubs and restaurants and a great bar. Service was good and breakfast was excellent. Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Really good value for money. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic setting looking down on to the lake. With a wonderful atmosphere and staff always being polite and helpful. One hotel we have marked as a definate return to.
