"We only had an overnight stay, but the hotel was excellent. Very clean and a beautiful smell throughout. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Will try to get back there again some time to use some of the facilities, as we didn't have time for golf or swimming."

I thought Malmaison was a little more upmarket than I found it but room was a good size, clean and the bed was comfortable - my only complaint was that you could hear a lot of voices from the corridor and adjoining room but this didn’t continue too late into the night. Reception staff were pleasant enough but slow and unable to help with basic questions such as ‘where can I find a postbox?’. The hotel was in a good location for what I needed and I would stay again should I need to be in that area."

"We had an awful stay at Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The experience started with extremely long queues, but the biggest issue was being woken by the fire alarm at 2am. After being forced to stand outside in horrendous rain and thunder, we eventually returned to our room and got back into bed, only to be woken again a few hours later by another false alarm. While in the lift during the first evacuation, another guest told us they had experienced the same issue repeatedly throughout the week during the night, which is quite frankly unacceptable. Our child was absolutely petrified by the whole ordeal, and after the second alarm we decided to pack up and prepare to leave. As a result, we got virtually no sleep at all. It's a real shame because the hotel itself is lovely and the décor is beautiful, but the repeated false alarms completely ruined our stay. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend it based on our experience."
