"I had booked a 2 day stay and taken a king bedroom pool view. The room should have a mini refrigerator as a mandatory requirement as per the property description. However there was none in the room. Also the iron board and iron were missing. The staff was not cooperative. I had to meet them in person as they did not lift the room service phone calls from me. I went over and over again at least 4-5 times to remind them. After so many reminders they sent a person to keep the mini refrigerator on the second day late afternoon. Horrible service. I asked them to change my room on the first day itself but they declined saying all rooms were booked. I am deeply unsatisfied with this kind of service and will not recommend anyone to go. I had some medical issues and needed that mini refrigerator so badly. I request Expedia to intervene and refund my money for the 2 days of very disappointing and health spoiling stay at Catalina hotel and beach club. Thanks Phil"

"Property was just “okay”. A/C units in our room simply did not keep the room cool. The unit is overmatched for the room size and florida sunshine. Bathrooms very small."

"Great location, old building. Things we most noted about the actual hotel: you can’t control the AC temperature in rooms or open any windows. The rooms and lobby have very strong smells (not good). The hotel itself is a pretty old building, so doesn’t feel super updated. Not bad for the price, but probably would stay somewhere else if we go back to South Beach."

"Our stay at the Penguin Hotel was amazing! The hotel is in such a great location and about a 2 min walk from the beach. It’s also very close to public transportation to get to other neighborhoods and close to shopping and restaurants. Carmen was such a pleasure during our stay and always made sure we had anything we needed. The hotel provides beach towels and access to a rooftop pool as well as welcome drinks. If you’re looking for an affordable but quality hotel in Miami stay here!!!"
