"If you looking for a quiet family oriented place for 1-2 nights outside Kyoto with a Ryokan and privacy. This is the place. Bring lots of games and books, nice walks along the river. It is not a large hotel and it is not easy to get to. But the right circumstances make this a perfect experience. "

I read the reviews about the location and there isn’t anything that isn’t walkabale to. They have a bus to drops you off in the station location was great. Beautiful rooms but I think some of the stuff is a bit outdated for a 5 star. Nonetheless amazing staff and experience

Nice sized room across the road from Nijo station. Self check in and check out was very smooth and there was always someone at the reception to help.
One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in whilst being in Japan. Loved the pyjamas!

Loved the location of being nearer the old side of Kyoto. Spacious lobby was lovely along with rooftop bar. Balance between sympathetic design and modern luxury. Breakfast was excellent and very varied to others we had in Japan.
Room was good and a generous size. Ground floor didn’t have much light but that was okay as we were out all day.
Only negatives, only one chair in room and not many places to be comfy and relax. No bath. Laundrette was not nearly big enough, turned out to be very...

The place to go if you want the feel of Ryokan but want the modern amenities. Each room is gorgeous, and so well thought down to the tiniest detail. Would put it at the level of the Four Seasons or Park Hyatt.
The wooden gated entry to every room, with its own rock garden makes it feel like you are coming home. The welcome locally made sweets and tea/cold towels at check in are some of the touches that make the place special.
The only downside is the lack of a proper gym.

The APA Kyoto Hotel was a lovely choice for my brief time in Japan. The staff were lovely and accommodating, they didn’t let the language barriers get in the way and they were always quick to be helpful. The room was pristine, and the housekeeping is in its own league. I loved that at the 3 day mark I’d return from my time out to a fully deep cleaned room (as they do a deep clean either on request or once every 3 days).
Alongside that, the daily gift bag was great for replacing my towel, robe,...

The hotel is fairly new. It is centrally located within the district we stayed in about 4 km from Kyoto Station. The hotel staff were very helpful when we had to change our travel plans due to the cyclone that hit Tokyo and managed to find us alternative rooms in the hotel. Excellent service.

Whilst it’s slightly out of town centre, it is within walking distance of a number of attractions, and close to the subway. We used the subway a lot, and got the direct Hankyu line to Osaka an couple of times. Enjoyed the breakfast, and the complementary food etc in the lounge. I cam highly recommend it
