Excellent stay

We had the most wonderful stay at Yuzuya Ryokan, it provided the true traditional ryokan experience from beginning to end. The staff are so friendly and always willing to help and look after us. The room was huge and so comfortable. And the Japanese breakfast was absolutely delicious. The location was also very conveniently based in Gion, close to the temples in the area and in walking distance to the main Gion district where we found many shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic welcome with drinks from very attentitive and friendly English speaking staff. The room was huge and very clean, a very pleasant experience for our first stay at a traditional Ryokan and we would highly recommend to any travellers to Kyoto. Stayed at the Ohanabo Hokkaikan for two nights, and when we arrived, we were greeted by the sweetest people. They took our luggage to our room whilst we were sightseeing as we arrived early, and upon returning they brought us tea and sweets to welcome us back. I stayed here 2 nights and my stay was incredible! Since the moment I arrived the staff was very friendly explaining me the rules while staying, and the room was everything I expected. The public baths were also an amazing experience, so I highly recommend to take a bath there at least once! The location was well connected with the bus and metro system, and the surroundings were perfectly quiet, with some nice places to eat close by. Definitely recommended, and hope I can come back!

Amazing place, people, and location!

The hotel is in an amazing location, especially for Sakura viewing with the shrine/park just behind it and the viewing spots on the river only a short walk away. The hotel staff are friendly and very accommodating, helping me with locating specialised shops in the area and in giving me directions and advice on how to make the most of what was a short trip. Such a beautiful area and amazing ryokan hotel. Staffs are so attentive, food was great. Also not as far from kyoto city as i thought. 30-40mins from taxi and bit more with the bus/ the bus station was just 10mins walk from the hotel. I would love to go back in autumn time.

Stayed for 4 nights on holiday with late teenage family . The ryokan was superb. Traditional Japanese experience with a super kind attentive atmosphere from a family run business . It may not be for everyone but we loved it !
