Kyoto Four Sisters Residence"Love the location. It was in a quiet neighbourhood but still very close to transport and food options. It was such a great area to wake up and find a little coffee shop and wander the street early. The room was a good size for our family of four and had everything you needed, particularly the washing machine. The beds were also really comfy. We would come back and stay here again"

casana KYOTO
casana KYOTO"Casana Kyoto is a newly built hidden gem in a quiet residential neighbourhood near the historic Gion district. We chose it to get away from the touristy areas while having the modern conveniences of a serviced apartment, but with a traditional Japanese feel. It delivered all that and more! It's located about 15-20 min walk to the main streets and the popular Pontocho alley. Itโs just 20 mins away from Fushimi Inari (1000 tori gates), and a 45 min drive of the popular Arashiyama Bamboo Forest...

Where to stay in Kyoto

Gion
Gion preserves Kyoto's traditional soul with wooden machiya houses and geisha culture. Spot elegant geiko in kimono gliding along lantern-lit streets or experience a tea ceremony in this living museum. Yasaka Shrine's vermillion gates mark the entrance to historic wonders. The narrow stone-paved lanes of Shirakawa showcase willow-lined canals reflecting soft light. Visit Gion Corner for traditional arts performances or wander Hanami-koji Street with its exclusive tea houses. Early morning offers the most serene experience away from afternoon crowds.

Central Kyoto
Central Kyoto captivates visitors with its UNESCO World Heritage sites like Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Nijo Castle. Traditional machiya townhouses line narrow streets where geisha performances and tea ceremonies showcase Japan's cultural heart. Ancient Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines offer spiritual experiences throughout the area. Wander through picturesque gardens or visit the Nishijin Textile Centre to explore traditional crafts. The Kamo River provides peaceful walking paths away from bustling temple grounds. Access is convenient with Imadegawa, Kuramaguchi, and Nijojo-mae metro stations connecting you to greater Kyoto.

Higashiyama Ward
Higashiyama is Kyoto's time capsule where traditional wooden machiya houses and ancient temples create an authentic glimpse into Japan's past. Geisha still glide through the lantern-lit alleys of Gion district. UNESCO sites like Kiyomizu-dera Temple offer wooden stages overlooking the city. The stone-paved pedestrian paths of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka lead to artisan shops selling handcrafted ceramics and silk. Traditional tea houses invite visitors to experience authentic Japanese culture. Several train and metro stations make exploring this historic area and beyond surprisingly convenient.

Arashiyama
Step into historic Arashiyama where traditional Japan comes alive along the scenic Hozu River. The famous bamboo grove creates ethereal green corridors while the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge stands as a timeless landmark. Ancient temples and shrines dot the landscape, offering glimpses into Kyoto's rich cultural heritage. This peaceful district invites exploration beyond the main attractions. Catch a scenic ride on the Sagano Romantic Train or visit the playful residents at Monkey Park Iwatayama. Several train stations make getting around simple, while riverside walks reveal traditional tea houses and artisan shops selling handcrafted bamboo souvenirs.

Shimogyo Ward
Shimogyo Ward blends ancient tradition with modern Kyoto life in every stone and wooden beam. This historic district houses magnificent temples like Higashi Hongan-ji alongside narrow alleys lined with traditional machiya townhouses. The famous Nishiki Market buzzes with vendors selling colourful local delicacies. Explore serene temple gardens or hunt for treasures in Teramachi shopping arcade. Both the Karasuma subway line and frequent buses make getting around simple. Early mornings offer peaceful temple visits while evenings reveal beautifully illuminated shrine grounds and cosy sake bars.

The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Sanjo
"Laundry is a bit limited and should be improved"
Hotel Vischio Kyoto by GRANVIAย
"Probably one of the best hotels we have stayed in Japan! Very close to the Kyoto station and airport limousine stops. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. They offer complimentary coffee & tea in the lounge. The breakfast buffet is with it to try at least once because eating there every day is dangerous because EVERYTHING is delicious!! The customer service provided by M.Takashi and R.Niga was outstanding! They assisted us in having our luggage sent to our next hotel. Itโs all these factors that will definitely have us coming back!"
Hotel Musse Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi Meitetsu
"I had a really great stay here. The laundry amenities were really nice and convenient for me. They have a live status on the TV so you can see when the laundry machines are available which was nice. I felt like the hotel was really eco friendly while also being really clean. There was no sacrificing of cleanliness. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and we and a very enjoyable stay."
Richmond Hotel Premier Kyoto Ekimae
"Rooms are clean and staff are friendly and helpful."
Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo PREMIER
"Our stay at MGH Kyoto Sanjo Premier was amazing! Our second stop during our trip to Japan, the hotel had everything we needed and was located conveniently to Karasuma Oike station. Staff was incredibly helpful in arranging luggage transfer and level of service overall was great. We did not originally opt for the breakfast when booking, but had the option to charge to the room each day as needed. Breakfast included a plated AND the buffet, so there were plenty options. Hotel restaurant leans italian so breakfast fare had some of that influence. The property, hotel, and our room was well maintained. AC worked perfectly and beds were comfortable. The only thing I would say is odd is the blinds in the shower to block the window out to the entry hallโฆ but I guess it works. Toiletries are available downstairs before heading to the elevator. Laundromat in the basement is the 2-1 washer-dryer but did the trick washing. We booked the private bath rather than use the public bath and it was a lovely experience! Luxe and private. Overall would definitely stay again!!!!"
RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto
"Overall a great hotel. The only thing is the lighting could be brighter in the hallways. It didnโt feel welcoming with such dim lights"
Nohga Hotel Kiyomizu Kyoto
"Iโve stayed in this property multiple times and the treatment as well as the facilities have been stellar."
Miyako Hotel Kyoto Hachijo
"Close proximity to the station is the main reason we picked this hotel. The station has all kinds of restaurants which is perfect for us since we didnโt have to go far to eat."
THE BLOSSOM KYOTO
"The property is very well situated! Clean and comfortable! Nice shower and bathtub. There is an amazing and delicious breakfast buffet! Highly recommended."
