"Best experience in a hotel. Large public bath, large room overlooking a beautiful garden, kind and helpful staff. Chose the dinner and breakfast option, which was fantastic. Many art pieces decorate the hotel corridors, and it feels like you are transported to the past. A small tea ceremony in the lobby in the morning. This ryokan is worth the extra distance. I wish I could have stayed more than two nights!"

The owner was very kind and he provided precise recommendations for transit. He also provided us with a map of Kyoto as well as a general guidebook for tourists. "It was a great property for a large group that expressed the unique culture of Kyoto. Nice local cuisine options in the area and is a decent area as a hub after a day's activities. The one caveat is that depending on your schedule it may be easier to cab rather than take the local buses nearby. "
