We stayed 5 days at The Gate. Had an amazing experience! Wonderful location right behind Pontocho Alley! It’s is centrally located close to happening places and various attractions, yet it is a quiet oasis. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is great - offering Japanese and western options. The view from the 7th floor lounge is stunning. Overall a great place to stay in Kyoto!

The room was equipped with all little necessities the traveller might need- hairbrush, toothbrush toothpaste slippers and more. The hotel is centrally located in the mid of the liveliest Kyoto area on top of Takase canal lined with beautiful Sakura trees. The Blue bottle cafe downstairs has the best coffee and the Master’s Dream house restaurant has the best beer. Walking distance to Maruyama park and Kyoto Takashimaya shopping mall. Amazing stay!
