Beautiful old building overlooking a park at the rear, where we caught sight of a cricket match on our return one evening. Our room was a luxury twin, although the beds were pushed together with a king quilt at the time. Room was very clean and spacious, plenty of tea/ coffee, good sized closet and mini safe. There were a couple of chairs to sit in, without feeling cramped. The bathroom was a decent size too albeit narrow to some we were used to. Our only issue with the room was with the shower and a sink, neither were draining properly. The front desk came to try to assist us and advised they had recently refurbished. This was apparent in a couple of area's throughout the hotel. The following day the matter was taken care of properly, without further issues.
I chose the hotel because I wanted something central and walkable to transportation and sights, this did not disappoint. We caught the Gatwick Express to Victoria and it was a 7 minute walk to the hotel, or a few minutes in a Cab. It was also less than 15 minutes to Buckingham Palace, and from there we walked through St James park to Horse Guards Parade (10-20 depending on pace and stopping), then it's just 5 minutes more to Trafalgar Square or Big Ben is the opposite way. And there were plenty of small, great little restaurants within 10 minutes to eat at
