Less crowded than neighboring St. James’s Park, this triangular grassy space is known for its pretty walking paths and mature trees.

Find a peaceful green oasis among the busy streets of central London in the beautiful Green Park. Pack a picnic, relax on the spacious lawns and admire the magnificent Buckingham Palace, which borders this royal park on the southeast.

Explore more than 40 acres (16 hectares) of grassland. Dotted around the park are large, mature trees where squirrels scuttle and birds flutter about. While most of the capital’s royal parks contain elaborate floral displays, Green Park has no formal flowerbeds. The story goes that Queen Catherine of Braganza had all the flowers here uprooted after she discovered her husband had been picking them for another woman.

On warm summer days, Londoners frequently come here to sunbathe and to enjoy picnics and drinks with friends under the sun. Bring a rug to spread out on the grass and soak up the jovial, sociable atmosphere. Stretch your legs during a stroll around the park’s paths.

While you’re in the area, be sure to see England’s famous royal palace, Buckingham Palace, which is located in between Green Park and St. James’s Park. Buckingham Palace offers exclusive tours of its opulent State Rooms. Marvel at the exquisite regal decorations including chandeliers and lavish furnishings.

For a change of scenery, walk to neighboring St. James’s Park, the oldest of the city’s eight royal parks. This stunning 57-acre (23-hectare) space encompasses a small lake with two islands and daily pelican feedings. St. James’s Park is the heart of ceremonial London and the Trooping the Colour parade, a colorful military parade marking the official birthday of the Queen, is held here annually in June.

Green Park is in the City of Westminster in central London. Access the park via the Hyde Park Corner and Green Park Tube stations. Luxury hotels and less expensive apartments are available in the City of Westminster and surrounding areas.

Take a break from sightseeing in London at this popular and conveniently located park.
