Village Hotel Solihull

8/10 Good

"PROS: Room service was affordable, tasty, generous, and prompt. The gym matched photos; Pilates, cycling, yoga, and other classes provided workouts. The pool, sauna, hot tub, and steam room surpassed standard hotels. Breakfast had variety and coffee options. Staff moved us from a flawed 1st-floor wall view to a better 4th-floor view. The shower got very hot, TV channels were plentiful, and beds were exceptionally comfortable; even better than our Purple Mattress 3. Housekeeping was kind and helpful. Onsite Starbucks was convenient after breakfast; the pub/bar/restaurant had live music and activities. CONS: Key cards demagnetized, requiring 4–5 reactivations in two weeks. Gym/pool preregistration was excessive. The bottle station behind the gym was inconvenient at night, especially after Starbucks closed. The room felt damp before showers; weak ventilation left walls and floors wet. A three-foot partition allowed splashing. An elevator was serviced without notice, briefly trapping one of us; staff tested the fire alarm without warning. We could not call the front desk; app/web messages went unanswered for 30–45 minutes, and staff confirmed poor monitoring. All double-double rooms had showers; tubs would help. The AC dripped on heat. Little was walkable. Issues with first room that caused us to request a change: The view faced a wall; the TV remote lacked a Home button; two of five hanger mounts were broken; construction was loud; and bathroom and shower floors were filthy."

Aparthotel Adagio Birmingham City Centre

10/10 Excellent

"Adagio Aparthotel - Birmingham From the moment of arrival we were very impressed! The warmest of welcomes, the room beyond our expectations. Stylish, fully equipped mini apartment. Immaculately clean, not a spec of dust or hair on the floors - anywhere. Everything you could think to need was provided - even washing up liquid, cloths and a sponge! The beds were fitted with the most comfortable mattress, crisp white cotton sheets - slept so well! Breakfast was fantastic, a vast array of choice to suit any taste and dietary requirements. Taylors tea too! The hotel is fabulous but what really cements your stay is the staff! Smiles galore and they go out of their way to ensure your stay is the best possible experience. Special mention to Linda who was on hand at breakfast to cater to your every need, what a lovely, warm, friendly lady she is - she clearly loves her job and her workplace. A wonderful stay all round. 10/10!!! Thank you! Amanda and Isabelle"

8/10 Good

"Good location. Nice rooms. The second time we have stayed and both times there were long queues at the bar late at night. There were two staff working but both struggled to communicate and didn’t understand what people were trying to order hence the long queues."

Genting Hotel & Spa at Resorts World Birmingham

10/10 Excellent

"The stay was absolutely wonderful and our room was perfect and spotlessly clean. The only thing I would say is the breakfast is basic, and the sausages were terrible. There wasn’t hardly any Gluten Free options for breakfast or for the dinner from the Sky Bar Restaurant. I think the breakfast needs updating to suit more people. The decaf coffee latte was undrinkable (which earlier in the day we paid for)."
