Top Riviera Maya Hotel Reviews

Occidental at Xcaret Destination - All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"I loved how much there was to do at this resort. Truly was something to do for all ages. However I will say, don’t believe the reviews saying this is a small resort! Be prepared to walk! We weren’t expecting this place to have so many different activities, pools, buildings, shops, etc. A tip for the resort, advertise more of your pools, beaches, buildings. We were blown away by what we continued to find through out our stay. I think the resort would get even more buisness if mote pictures of the place were taken. Our one complaint would have to be on the food. This resort was so awesome but I think the food could be better. We definitely left full every night but the whole week we felt like we would just eat the same foods over and over again. But no one got sick from the food! Secondly I really wish we were given the option to bring our leftovers to our room to eat later. We wasted soo much food because they wouldn’t give us boxes"

Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club - Adults Only - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"I would definitely come back again. This time with different people or just with my wife only. Francisco my concierge was amazing, the staff was great. The only thing I would improve is having music or a dj at the main pool. And the pebble pool floor was not great. It really messed up my feet."

Bahia Principe Explore Coba - All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"I traveled for my 40th birthday with my best friend. We requested birthday decor for the room prior to check in and it wasn’t done. We requested double beds this was not done. The room issue was corrected immediately and I contacted customer service regarding the decoration issue. Mateo in guest services was very nice and helpful. He was also able to get us a reservation at one of the restaurants as All of the restaurants were not open and we were not informed that booking dinner must be done 10 days prior to check in with the Bahia app. We only learned of the app a day before check out. Carlos and David were also very nice and helpful. I was provided a welcome dessert and bottle of tequila for being an Expedia Gold member which was nice. The pools close at 6pm daily and the limit the type of drinks you can have after a certain time in the evening with beer being the only option. I don’t drink beer. The ac was not cooling and on the third night it was leaking. Maintenance came out quickly to fix it. The property is huge but there aren’t many activities for late night. Best part was the spa. We both had 90 minute exfoliation, massage, and facial service. Overall it was just a very mediocre experience."

Catalonia Royal Tulum Adults Only - All Inclusive
6/10 Okay
"The hotel was nice, with a good pool and good activities such as bingo, excercise in the pool, beach volleyball, nightly shows and DJ until 1am. But the beach was full of algae so we couldn’t even get in the water. We saw cockroaches in the bedroom. Only the breakfast buffet was good, but the lunch buffet and dinner at most restaurants was not good. Some staff were super nice and welcoming but others were in a really bad mood and trying to ignore us when we tried to get their attention. Would not come back to this hotel"

Hotel Xcaret Mexico - All Parks / All Fun Inclusive

TRS Yucatan Hotel - Adults Only - All Inclusive
10/10 Excellent
"Overall, we had a great anniversary stay at TRS Yucatan and really enjoyed the adults-only atmosphere, which felt more peaceful, cleaner, more luxurious, and better maintained than the connected resorts. Check-in was welcoming with drinks and champagne, though the SPC Upgrade package did not seem worth the extra cost for us. Our room in Villa 63 was beautiful, clean, and well maintained, and our butlers Jessica, Jose, and Patricia were friendly and helpful throughout the trip. We did see one small cockroach on the first night, but after informing staff, housekeeping performed a deep cleaning immediately and we had no further issues for the rest of the stay. The Infinity Pool was our favorite because it was cleaner, had a better atmosphere, and offered beautiful views. The saltwater pool also looked amazing, though seaweed during the season limited our experience there. The buffet was good, but the restaurants were much better overall, so booking reservations early is highly recommended since they fill up quickly. We tried El Gaucho twice and thought it was good, but our favorite restaurant was Tentazione. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, the staff went out of their way to make it special with decorated tables, roses, and cakes, which was a thoughtful touch. The golf cart transportation around the large resort was also very convenient and always quick. Some trip highlights included Chic Cabaret, the Mexican show, and the nightly entertainment."

Hotel Xcaret Arte – All Parks / All Fun Inclusive, Adults Only
6/10 Okay
"The hotel was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. I think it is very overpriced for what they offer. The gym didn’t even have something as basic as cold water, and the coffee machine in the room had small insects in it. There wasn’t much variety of drinks available — only basic options — compared to other hotels I have stayed at before, where I paid much less than for this hotel. Overall, this hotel was not what I expected for the price I paid."

Barceló Maya Tropical - All Inclusive
6/10 Okay
"Initial check in was horrible. Only one of my 2 rooms were showing up even though I received confirmation from property for both rooms and my message to keep rooms together was acknowledged. After showing plenty of documentation they told me it was between me and Expedia and didn’t offer any help whatsoever. Wouldn’t even let rest of my party in to grab a drink at the lobby bar while I sorted it out with Expedia. Beyond that: Pros Clean place Polite staff Great house keeping Cons All amenities like pool tables, chess, ping pong, etc gets taken and put away at 4:30pm daily Not enough bartenders for either pool bar - better off getting out of pool and getting drinks from the walk up bar No evening lobby activities Evening activities in general are limited and abysmal - better off leaving resort Dining options are limited and they restrict how many restaurants you can attempt to make a reservation to based on your nights of stay so for our 4 nights / 5 days we were only allowed 2 reservation tickets Pro tip Convert your money and use Mexican pesos for everything as they have no respect for the exchange rate anywhere!! They make up their own prices when paying in anything else Find your own transportation ahead of time. Local taxis are piranhas and resort alliances are hyper inflated. I recommend Etransfer for airport/hotel transport and Silver's Shuttles Services for your every day run around. Both professional outfits, very dependable and fairly priced"

"I never leave reviews but everything about this place was top notch! Everything was so clean and beautiful and the staff works so hard!"
