What a gem, nice quiet rural location but close enough to Newcastle / Gateshead. The room was spotless. No complaints whatsoever. Won’t hesitate going back

Fantastic, authentic castle with such history and higgledy piggledy corridors. It was our anniversary and we were welcomed with an anniversary card which was a nice touch. The staff were excellent. We only had breakfast which was delicious and staff were efficient and friendly. The food in the library looked good. We had a courtyard room and were very happy with it. If you're expecting modern, corporate decor it might not be for you but we liked it and so nice to stay in a castle with character....

My husband and I stayed overnight and what a pleasant night it was.
We were greeted with the friendly lady at the check in desk who arranged a booking in the restrurant, the room was cosy and very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful both inside and out.
Our meal at The Stables was delicious and our waiter was so helpful and super friendly, he even told us about the history of the hotel as we'd said we'd been to the Beamish Museum earlier that day and he...

Lovely room and bed very comfortable. I hadn't realised there was a pool so can't comment on that but it looked very clean and quiet.
Very close to metro centre so ideal if that's what you are there for. Taxi to Quayside cost around £14 one way

Lovely room (room 4), but needs a mirror over the chest of drawers so that you can use a hairdryer, as there is no mirror and plug together in that room.
A coat hook on the back of the bathroom door and also a shelf in there would be useful.
Always a pleasure to stay at this lovely hotel.

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Newcastle and this was the best stay. The room was spacious with a well equipped mini kitchen and we had prepared 2 good evening meals there. The bed was so comfortable and the location made the hotel quiet which is a change to the noise and sirens throughout the night in my other stays! The Manager's get-together on the Wednesday and Thursday evening of my stay was unexpected and a lovely touch - free drinks and cheese and nibbles for an hour. The staff...

A very impressive and imposing hotel that's clearly benefited from a multi-million pound revamp in the last year. I was offered a voucher each day for a free pint in return for foregoing daily housekeeping services and I thought this was a nice perk. Breakfasts are of the self-service variety and generally everything was in good supply, although all the croissants had gone occasionally. All in all an excellent base for a stay in Tynemouth, a gem of the North East.

We used the hotel as a base whilst I underwent some tests and procedures at the Royal Victoria infirmary. The staff could not have been more helpful and all in all the quality of our stay was exceptional.
The bedrooms are understated but well-equipped. Our room was spacious and incorporated a substantial ensuite bathroom (possibly made bigger by disability provision). The hotel offers free Wi-Fi this was always up and running.
