"Beautiful grand hall set in beautiful grounds, didn't spend much time there, due to stay related to attending a wedding near by. Hotel contacted us before our stay to check any requests and were kind enough to say even though check in not till 3pm and we needed to be at our wedding for 2:30 said we could leave our luggage and do the check in process and collect key after the wedding, but when we arrived the room was ready so they let us go straight to the room. If we were to return would pay more to have a better room. The bed was comfortable, firm but not too firm, shower was luke warm so possibly running out of hot water at 10:00. Duvet a bit too warm and no other option, but for what we paid this was great. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, quickly arranging us a taxi when Uber let us down. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Would definitely recommend. If you had time Beamish museum is a short walk away."

"A beautiful location, staying within an actual castle grounds. The breakfast was amazing and catered for myself and my partner who is vegetarian. All members of staff were really friendly including the cat that greeted me as I went for breakfast. The only negative was how loud the room above was throughout the 2 night stay, but we still slept well and had a great time."
