"Lovely place to stay. Appreciate listed building. But attention by house keeping could be better. Mould around bath handles and plug drain. Duvet stained (duvet cover was slightly open and you could see stains on actual duvet) Pillow protectors need changing. Just needs attention to detail. With house keeping. "

"The room was clean enough but the shower room had streaks down the paint and signs of mildew. There was some discarded cigarettes by our bedroom door that a previous occupant must have left but housekeeping never removed them before or during our stay. Food in the restaurant was decent but the service was slow and we had to ask several times over for jugs of water to be brought to our table, too. Considering the hotel was completely refurbished just a couple of years ago, it was a disappointment. We won't be revisiting, sadly."

"Staff were kind and friendly. Food was good in the bar but over priced. My room was grubby, the bedding and bathroom were clean but there was dust and dirt on the ledges and windowsills. No shower gel in the bathroom either. I was also above the kitchen there was lots of banging about outside and a constant humming/droning from what sounded like extractor fans. This did stop around 9pm but then started up again at 10pm. It was really quite loud, I could still hear it when I had my headphones in. I was charged twice, payment taken by expedia and by the hotel. I have been advised that the hotel have refunded my payment but nothing showing yet. It is such a shame this beautiful building is being left to deteriorate but not spending money is one thing, there is no excuse for it not being cleaned properly."

"Lovely room - spacious and very comfortable. No hot water unfortunately for the shower. Good location for public transport into Durham (bus) and close to shopping. "
