"So, you walk in through a glorious, grand Victorian Lobby, like something from the golden age of rail. And check in with helpful staff. Then walk to your room through the maze of coridoors that gradually shift to being like something from The Shining. The rooms are clean and tidy, but there is a lot of disrepair and a lot of money needs spending to fix a lot of minor issues. Also the plumbing is loud and makes all kind of ungodly noises. Finally, its clear the hotel is cheap and central enough that people use it when they are planning night out & dont want a taxi home. Yiu hear a lot of coming and going all night & I had one drunk couple try to draw me into their argument, only to later walk past them being arrested from within the hotel. Spend a bit of money, and this could be a great hotel. But right now its more than a little past its best"

"Hotel is central to everything (shops, restaurants, theatre, bars etc) but hidden in a quiet street behind the theatre royal. The standard of rooms is excellent (lovely touches in each room makes you feel relaxed and cared for), we were also surprised at how quiet the rooms were. The breakfast was superb, with a wide range of quality food available. The staff are always well presented, friendly and approachable, helpful and knowledgable of both the hotel and the surrounding areas and events. Highly recommend- we will be back !"

"Great hotel in a good location close to shopping, restaurants and bars. Comfortable and spacious room but there was damage to the sink which had a large chip in it. Also only 2 pillows which were very thin and didn't have pillow protectors on them. They really should be replaced."
