We booked two rooms at the hotel, the issues we had were with the noise from the room upstairs which isn't the hotel's fault, but creaking floors were an issue. However my parents had a room right next to a generator and the noise from it kept them awake for a long time. In the end my mother had to stick toilet paper in her ears, being 83 not particularly ideal!!! In the morning we came down to hand in our keys and reception was closed with a mobile phone number to ring so we couldn't let them know our thoughts !!!!

Comfortable and friendly

Comfortable room and bed, friendly staff, lovely quiet area. Bathroom needed a little maintenance, no one around at check out. Overall recommend the hotel, which also has a bar and restaurant convenient for a one night stay

We stayed here as a good value option for a nearby stay for friends wedding venue 1.7 miles away, we asked for quiet room and were upstairs overlooking the bowling green- perfect, no traffic noise. Bit dated looking but everything was clean with spacious room and comfy bed. Nothing special but ideal for one night stay. Check in was friendly and the restaurant looked lovely would of been nice to eat a meal there

It was a hotel chosen at random from the internet.

I arrived at the Horse and Groom at about four thirty and was greeted by a lovely lady who helped me with the registration form then handed me the key to room seventeen. The room was spotless and time and effort had obviously gone into making guests welcome, there being a beautiful sculpture of swans somehow contrived with massive fluffy towels. Tea and coffee in abundance and free wifi with charging facilities. The price of the room is for that alone, but as there is an excellent restaurant attached this is no hardship. I spent two nights in one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and whenever I bumped into one of the staff I was greeted with smiles. In fact, all the staff seemed as though they would do anything in their power to make my stay, however short, as enjoyable as possible. I would love to stay here again but with a more relaxed mind. Looking for houses is pretty stressful.

The room was clean but everything was very dated, the carpet was worn and the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. You could hear everything from the next neighbor, especially the TV. The room cost £70, breakfast not included. Probably wouldn’t stay here again unless I had no other option.

The hotel complex was pleasant enough, but we were concerned about the absence of staff, which led to a feeling of isolation. In an emergency one would be left to cope on one's own. We ordered and paid to have breakfast on Monday morning. My daughter is adamant that no-one told her that this was a self-service job upstairs in the hotel building. Of course in the morning the restaurant was all shut up - no sign of staff or breakfast.We left hungry and only found out about the arrangement by consulting the web when we got home. The hotel has not responded to my e-mail.

Hotel ok but let down by poor service

Very nice hotel and excellent Restaurant/ Bar all unfortunately let down by POOR service. To be told unceremoniously that breakfast wasn't available as soon as we had booked in and paid was a little off putting and having to wait almost 20 mins to order our food in the restaurant even though there was only 1 other party of 4 people in the place was disappointing.

Dirty! Dangerous! Dated! This is easily the worst place I've ever stayed. Fire doors wedged open. Doors to unoccupied rooms wedged open with windows wide open. God help anyone in there if there is a fire. The rooms were dirty (no way we would sit on a chair), the bathroom disgusting. We bought cleaning equipment and bleach to give us half a chance in the bathroom. Toilet took 20 minutes to re-fill then didn't flush. Blocked a couple of times during our stay. Water didn't run from the dirty (mouldy) shower cubicle. All-in-all, not worth the money they charge and they need to learn fire safety before someone dies in there. There was a large hole in the car park where the sewer had collapsed: stank! They'd put a cone over it! Definitely not recommended, in fact, stay away.

Our stay was OK for 2 nights. Spacious room, ample parking and nice staff. The Thai restraurant food was very good. Take away is cheap. Only shower and a very small space to bath. Room carpets were bit old and TV signal was bad.

Good size rooms.

Went to check in at reception 5.30 pm on date booked, only to find our room had been given to someone else & a replacement had to be found! Not a great start! Room was big enough (#14) but a bit tatty. Water stains on wall from a leak above ceiling, cracks above window & corners of walls, bathroom extractor fan very noisy, carpet threadbare in places, stains on seat covers with bits hanging off underneath & furniture veneer peeling off. To be fair it did not cost a lot! But not likely to be rushing back.

Horse & Groom - not a pub anymore ??

The Horse & Groom is no longer a pub, it is a Thai/Chinese restaurant called Jasminium. The restaurant is clean and tidy and decorated in typical Thai style, with Buddhist statues dotted about and glass topped tables over carved scenes in wood. The food is excellent. The hotel part is an annexe with double sets of doors to the foyer. The inner set of doors are security protected and you need a fob to gain entry. You are supposed to check in after 3:00pm when the restaurant closes as it is the same staff that run both the hotel and restaurant. However we arrived early and were made welcome and shown to an available room. After inspecting other rooms our one was probably the best in terms of layout. The rooms are clean and tidy and the beds are comfortable. There is a kettle, crockery and tea / coffee / sugar sachets, a hairdryer, TV and free Wi-Fi. The staff of Thai/Chinese origin were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The decor and fittings were somewhat dated and some of the furniture could do with replacing and updating. There was a petrol station and grocery store very close and general area was pleasant enough.Would stay there again if we are in that area and would certainly eat in the restaurant. All in all a pleasant short break stay.

Generally Good.

A good base for driving out to see the Broads. Room was spacious with ample drawer and hanging space. Comfortable bed. Good restaurant food. On the downside, no shampoo in the shower. Breakfast for £2.50 only consisted of cereal and bread.
