Step out back and you’re transported into a peaceful, almost surreal beachfront setting. Highlights include the magical and romantic Lantern Room restaurant on the fourth floor, complete with a cozy wood-burning fireplace, and the stunning glass-walled lobby with a massive fireplace overlooking the ocean. The modern bar and the unique self-service wine machine—where you can pour one or two glasses daily as part of the resort fee—add a fun and upscale touch. The nightly “marshmallow box” treat is a 10/10, especially thanks to the high-quality chocolate. Dining at the Lantern Room (breakfast and dinner at additional cost) is a must, especially for the breads and pastries sourced from a well-known local bakery in downtown Monterey. The beachfront rooms are worth it—especially on upper floors for safety and views. The experience strongly echoes a cruise vibe: endless ocean views, the soothing sound of waves, and a long stretch of beach perfect for walks. It’s easy to spend days without leaving the property, fully unplugging and and resetting mentally. Amenities are a solid 10 out of 10"

"Currently has renovations ongoing. The pool was not inviting--the water was cloudy and the rope dividing the shallow from the deeper part was broken and floating in the water. My room was very clean and everything worked EXCEPT the shower. The water pressure was so low, it took a lot of time and frustration to wash and rinse hair and body. It would be better to have two side chairs in the room instead of just one. The lighting in the room was great."

"We booked a ‘suite’ and there was nothing suite about it. There were 3 beds in 2 open rooms with 1 gross rolling chair. No where else to sit even though images online showed sitting chairs. Walls were covered in filth and mold. The door leading into the room looks like a prison entrance door which is showed nowhere online. By the images online it looks like you’re in a hotel but it’s actually outside prison door rooms. There were bugs smashed in the door frames and bugs in the bathroom. The door frames were dirty with dirt. I was told that room was just repainted but there is zero possibility that could be true. There was random pieces of tape on the top of the window which just shows no one probably actually looks to make sure the rooms are being cleaned. I will never stay here again and will make sure no one I know goes there."
