The Expedia ad shows there’s a gym which was one of the factors in choosing this place, however, there’s no gym. They do not have microwaves. Lights went out during our stay. They provide a map of accommodations and such but you cannot read it. Walking around the facility there were giant bags of laundry and trash bags laying around. Aside the negative, the ocean side view was magnificent and the staff themselves were very friendly .
For the price you pay the rooms should be throughly cleaned and nicer. The view is great if you have a ocean view but the quality of the rooms are not the best.
I was upset with the staff at check in. I told the staff member that the hotel had emailed me for an e-standby room upgrade. I already paid for an ocean view, but was looking forward to moving up to the next floor. The staff member asked her co-worker, “which one is the good one,” and after hearing that I knew that meant we where going to get the bad room. After getting to the room number 364 it had only half of the ocean view as everyone else. I wished I had never even asked and paid extra. I would have been much happier with my room one floor down that I spent good money on. The staff members sneaky approached to giving me the room with a firehouse on the view was disappointing. I have stayed here twice now within 6 months and will be back to Monterey to visit family again in July but at a different hotel next time. I also always eat breakfast and enjoy the bar at this facility. Please when you email you’re guest and invite them to upgrade their room make sure to train your staff to do so politely and properly. Being put in the room with the obstructed view was extremely disappointing after accepting the invitation to upgrade.
The view is spectacular from ocean side rooms and facilities relatively good, however I have a broken ankle and it was not ADA compliant in many areas, including the beach decks. It is
certainly responsible to expect at least one to have a ramp up, though I acknowledge getting side rails along the sides add up. The bar/ lounge was kind of a challenge to navigate at medium capacity with the furniture layout leaving very little space between chairs. If it were just a bar, I’d expect it but it also serves as the lounge. The furniture and surroundings were lovely otherwise.
The room was a slight disappointment as there was threadbare carpeting going towards the bath room. The fitness room was actually a storage room for housecleaning, it seems as it was not possible to work out there. (Not due to my ankle).
Allow me to emphasize the view j
