All of the staff were so helpful and friendly, beautifully appointed rooms and the location is perfect. The staff and management even went out of their way to retrieve my lost luggage in KL. Definitely would stay there again!
Low season meant the room rate was excellent. I stayed at the hotel 6 nights as a tourist. Good central location, close to most tourist spots including New Market and Park Street. Breakfast buffet was good and staff service was also good although the constant 'namaste' with hands clasped from every single staff member you come across is a bit much and does not on its own make a hotel great. A simple smile would suffice at most times. Expectations were high as this is a 5 star hotel. Wifi wasn't complementary and was expensive. Greater attention to detail would see this hotel move from good to great (examples include; stains on cushions in restaurant, piece of cardboard and clingfilm used to balance a cabinet in restaurant, surfaces on side of buffet service area in restaurant need wiping down). At check out I was told that I had used mini bar despite the mini bar being cleared on day 1 on my request. I ordered a cab through concierge night before leaving and it wasn't done which meant I had to wait 30 mins and use the hotel car which was expensive, despite being given a discount. I also provided positive feedback to the manager on a staff member and heard nothing until I raised it at departure. I was told about less costly wifi options only at checkout (a bit late!). These things are only minor but are the things that elevate a hotel to higher ratings. Don't get me wrong, a good hotel but could do better with the smaller details which separate out the good from the great.
