When I booked the hotel I knew it was close to the station and Dam Square but I didn’t realise just how close it actually was. I visit Amsterdam every year and the hotels are more or less the same, but Luxer had some little things that make it worth staying at again. For a start the hotel has a free bean-to-cup coffee machine for guests to use whenever they want, plus free croissants and jars of sweets. I found I saved a lot of money on coffees by just going back to the hotel for a pit stop to get refreshed, grabbed a coffee and some sweets before heading out again. When you check out they also give you a little bag of snacks for the road.
I stayed in a twin room and it is a lot more spacious than some other hotels, plenty of space to move around. The air con works really well and most importantly the room was very clean, beds and pillows comfortable.
There were really only 2 minor down sides I found during the stay. Our room didn’t have a mini fridge, that would have been nice to store drinks, and the hotel doesn’t have a dedicated luggage storage room, you can leave your luggage but it stays by the front desk. Other than those minor things I think the hotel is fabulous, given the price and location. It is on a very busy road full of bars and restaurants and it gets rowdy at night, I don’t expect this to be a hotel for you if travelling with children.
