Marriott International is continuing its international growth with a new property in Italy. The company recently announced that it will be opening the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort and Spa in Barga.
The new hotel is conveniently located just a short drive from the Apennine Mountains, which means that guests have a fantastic view of the natural attractions in the distance. The property was originally a family retreat owned by Shaner Ciocco.
"We are excited to partner with Shaner Ciocco on this tremendous opportunity to bring our Renaissance brand to Tuscany," Amy McPherson, president and managing director of the Marriott's European sector, said in a statement. "[The new hotel] will be our company's first in this incredible region and we are thrilled to offer this great experience to our guests."
The Barga resort is part of the hospitality company's plan to double its presence in Europe by 2015 across its multiple brands. Renaissance currently operates more than 145 hotels around the world, including new hotels in Malmo, Sweden; San Francisco, California; and Bangkok, Thailand.
