“Excellent”
Perfect location, very nice room, very helpful staff. No criticisms from me.
“Rugby trip”
Our second stay at this lovely hotel. Great location, great rooms and breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
“Fantastic”
Lovely hotel but breakfast far to expensive.
“Rome in 3 days!”
We took our 9 year old son on our trip to Rome and were very impressed by the hotel. It is immaculate and so perfectly placed for sightseeing. Rome is fabulous but we are convinced however, that there is nowhere more expensive! Room service is room service and you expect to pay more for that but...the price for a lemonade, a beer and an iced tea was rather a pinch on the roof top terrace/bar but the view is stunning so, that is what you pay for. On arrival we noticed scaffold outside and were upgraded and put in one of those rooms affected which is not really the view we had in mind. We stated this and were immediately moved to a room with a view and no scaffold so, you can't say fairer than that. The hotel was pretty dead as apparantley August is a ghost town in Rome as the locals all go away.We found this a great time to go even if a little hot. Great hotel, centrally located and very efficient service. Excellent extras in the rooms too!
“Wonderful rooftop terrace.”
This is an excellent hotel - which it should be for the price. You don't stay here if you're on a budget - we weren't especially, but even we baulked at the cost of breakfast €35 a head! The rooftop terrace is fabulous, there's a lovely view and the cocktails (Negroni for me and Bellini for my wife) were yummy. We had a superior room which was spacious. comfortable and clean. The location is perfect. It's right by the Pantheon so everything from the Collosseum to the Vatican is walking distance away. There are loads of restaurants around but do get the hotel staff to recommend one to you as the quality of some of them is very variable and not what you'd call cheap - but this is Rome after all.
“As close to Baroque Rome as you will get...”
The Grand Hotel De La Minerve is hotel that provides a good location with modern facilities in a grand epoch building but steps away from the Pantheon and the Piazza Navona. The rooms are furnished in an International (but with a modern Italian flair) style and are roomy and, if on the front, open onto either a square or the rooftops. (Go for a room on the top floor - there is nothing better than relaxing, after a day's venturing about the city, to lie down with the evening breeze coming through the open window. (As for the air-conditioning - this is Rome, a place that has managed without such for a lot longer than the United States has been about - you can survive.)) The bars - either that in the main lobby or that on the rooftop (where it moves when the weather is suitable) - provide a good service and the full range of cocktails (for those who want to enjoy the pre-dinner...). Up on the rooftop terrace you can watch the sunset go down (though the, little too loud, live music can somewhat offset the mood) while the lobby provides plenty of comfy couches to relax back on. Cannot comment on the restaurant (which moves to the rooftop terrace when possible, so that must count), but there are plenty of places to dine about the locale.
“Location, location, location”
A hop, skip and a jump away from the Pantheon (in fact you can might be able to see it from your window, if you're lucky) and within easy walking distance of the Trevi Fountain and many major piazzas. The staff were truely five star and the view from the rooftop terrace is divine (with prices to match though.) The church next door is also worth a visit. It's so beautiful.
“Fantastic central location”
We dont normally choose 5 star accomadation but as this trip was for my wife's 40th we decided to splash out!!! We were not dissapointed. We could not have been in a more central location, the Pantheon is right outside your front door and the surrounding restuarants & Piazza have a great atmosphere. The staff couldnt have been more helpful although room service and breakfast were definatly over priced. The room we had was at the back of the hotel so the view wasnt great so ask for a room at the front if possible...although i suspect that these are the higher priced rooms. Our only critisim of the room was that the air con wasnt great and although it was 28 degrees when we visited I wouldnt like to go in the height of summer. Overall a beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Definalty would recommend for those not on a tight budget.
“Lovely hotel in a fantastic location”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very attentive but not obtrusive. The location was great. We plan to come back next year.
“A great anniversary”
The hotel could not be in a better location for seeing the major sights of Rome, all of which are within walking distance. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary over a long weekend and the hotel staff very kindly allocated us a lovely room overlooking the square. Our children joined us and they enjoyed the hotel too. Despite being located right next to the busy Pantheon, the Minerve square is very quiet, although we were serenaded by a rather merry Italian tenor late one evening. Unfortunately just about everything extra at the hotel was expensive for us (it is a five star hotel so that was to be expected) and other than the included breakfasts, we could not afford to eat there; but there are plenty of restaurants in the area so it was not a problem. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Rome is just fabulous so all in all a great and memorable celebration for us and our family.
