“Just the job”
The hotel location is spot on. Ferry port is just 5 mins away, which gives a great base for visiting other places around the lake. Train service that takes you to Vittriolle (not sure about spelling) well worth a visit and botanical gardens. We had a lake view which is well worth asking for. Gardone itself has all you need for a relaxing stay with cafe's bars and fine restaurants. We tried most there and were all good especially Emiliano which is opposite the back entrance. This holiday was just what we were looking for and more.
“Superb location and value for your holiday”
Great location, wonderful views over the lake from our 3rd floor bedroom, friendly and helpful staff, basic facilities but great value for money... we so wanted to stay longer!!
“Pleasant hotel”
Pleasant small hotel situted on the lake.Room impeccably clean, bathroom rather small but modern. Excellent cuisine at the restaurant.Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Certainly the ideal place for a break on the Lago
“All round good option”
A very small resort, but this hotel had good facilities and is very well looked after. One of the cheaper options in the area and can't really be faulted for value for money. Food was well above average for price bracket and things like breakfast and cleaning are well organised. Some of the front of house staff were excellent and very very helpful in organising transport and giving tips on the area. English was widely spoken and staff on the whole were very pleasant. Lack of swimming pool was a bit of a negative, but overall as a cheaper option its very pleasant and it would be churlish to say otherwise. if you want five star quality then pay for it, but this hotel is punching above its weight and as a base for exploration its perfect.
“Good accommodation”
Well situated near restaurants. Rooms very clean though initially when you enter the hotel it is quite dark inside. Would recommend booking a room with a balcony which has a view of the lake. Breakfast perfectly ample. All in all a good standard hotel at a reasonable price.
“Basic, but wonderful location and friendly staff”
We found the staff here very friendly and helpful. Yes, the decor could be a little more up-to-date, but this is remarkably cheap for a hotel with not only a sea view, but actually slap bang on the lakeside with nothing but a promenade in front of the hotel. And it's about thirty seconds from the boat stop as well; Gardonne is well placed for exploring the lake by boat as it is roughly equidistant from the main sights of the northern lake (Riva, Limone, Malcesine) and the southern lake (Garda, Bardolino, Sirmione). Dinner looked reasonable, although we stayed clear as it was very busy - even in the off season - which is a good thing! Hey, one couple were even having their wedding reception here...
“Clean and value for money”
The location fo this hotel for seeing the sites of Lake Garda is the main feature of this hotel, its perfect. Situated right next to the port in Gardone its ideal for getting out and about the Lake. The hotel is clean and offers great value for money, it is basic in its decor but the price reflects this so cant complain about this. Breakfast is typical continental with plenty available throughout the service. Didn't eat in the restaurant as there are numerous restaurants locally, not many bars though in the area if you want to go for a few drinks of an evening - this would be my only complaint about Gardone.
“Hotel du lac”
There have been some bad reviews about this hotel but i would be more than happy to stay again. The breakfasts were basic but fine, the rooms clean, the staff helpful, it's positioned perfectly and has breathtaking views. Sure, it doesnt have cooked breakfasts, swimming pools etc but i come on holiday to visit places and all i want is a comfortable place to sleep in at the end of the day. If you want other stuff on top; go for a 4 or 5 star hotel but this place is perfectly adequate. The only real issue is the air con is not that great but it still works and we could sleep fine. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to the lakes to sight see and wants a comfortable place to sleep in at night with amazing views. Make sure you ask for a room with a balcony
“probably go back again”
excellent location, good freiendly staff. rooms are so small is was difficult to accomodate lugage , bathroom was small as well, they provide plastic cheap cup for water drinking after request!! breakfast typical italian! vey little choice .
“Not bad for those on a budget”
For the money we paid it was great, but if you have a bit more to spend then you could do a lot better. Location is perfect, right by the lakeside and next to a ferry port to get you across the lake to visit the other towns/resorts. We booked a double room but had 2 single beds pushed together, both made up as singles! Breakfast wasn't great, (nothing fresh, just tinned fruit, warmed-up croissants with jam in the middle, cereal etc) but it was cheap, so it just depends what you're willing to spend really. All in all, it was certainly worth the money but no more than that. PS The website said that the hotel would arrange a transfer from the airport, but when I emailed them they said they couldn't.
