The Corib Villiage was perfect as i was attending a conference at the University. It was a bit out of town, but easily accessible by bus and taxi. The main downside for me was that there was nowhere within walking distance to get dinner. Also, the shop on site was really expensive - 1.5 euros for 2 bananas. But staff were really friendly and the room was clean.

A reasonable budget option.
Friendly greeting on arrival. Problem with Wi-Fi solved promptly. Very convenient for shop / cafe and shuttle bus. No tv in room (which I knew, but under-estimate my wish for it once there). Sound-proofing limited, noticeable at chucking-out time at the International Arts Festival.

It was great to have access to the full kitchen, and have a little space in the bedroom. There was no soap in the shared bathroom, which there should be for four rooms of people using the toilet. Bed was comfortable, shuttle was very convenient! Tried for 15 minutes to get the shower going but couldn’t get hot water - also didn’t contact the staff as we were getting ready to check out so just gave up but I may well have just not flipped a switch I needed to or made some other “user error”. Overall would stay again!

Good place
The CorribVillage was a good place on stay as it was within an easy bus ride of the centre of town. It is early in the season, so many things needed to be fixed....we had issues with our keys and the wifi, but the maintenance people came quickly to fix these problems. The kitchen was very useful as well. It was not clear that you had to pay for breakfast, it seemed to be included when we booked it, but it was not in fact included in the price.

disappointing.Water cold at 4.30pm when took shpwer after hours of travelling.Waited 40 minutes with 2 calls to staff to then report to reception as cpuld not wait for them to get maintenance nan to be told he wpupd fix it in kitchen not room.waste of time!No apologies either just unknowledgeable staff senior and younger so not great. Be warned the spiwl does not tell you is 7€extra to access kitchen so self catering is a misnomer .Unbelievable!Lucky i did not rely on self catering but others may do.Noone explained this till i came to complain about lack of hpt water and said my key would not work in kitchen door.

Dorm style living on campus, close to Galway City
The Corrib Village is a great economic alternative to booking into a hotel. It is dorm style accommodations on the NUI campus. However you need not be a participant at the university to stay here. We booked a private double room ensuite. We were provided with clean towels, clean linens, bars of soap, and vials of shampoo. The bathroom was tiny by American standards but very clean. The small shower stall had a glass door and we had full force hot and cold water. Corrib Village is fairly close to Galway City and they provide free shuttles to the city. (If you are athletically minded it is a 40 minute walk to the city from the campus). The shuttle runs frequently from 12 pm onwards on weekdays and 10 am onwards on weekends. Just remember that the last shuttle is usually early —like 7-8 pm, but the cab ride is not too bad. It will cost about 10 €. The reception desk is friendly and check-in is easy. It being in a campus, there is a cafe on site that serves breakfast (just under 6€) and good coffee, and has a small store attached that sells a wide variety of snacks and necessities. A convenient laundromat is also on site. Booking for a minimum of 2 nights gives you an even better price for your lodging. You can take day trips to the Cliffs of Mohr and the Aran Islands from Galway city. The Aran Islands ferry has an office right in the heart of the city. The Tourist info office is a great resource. Dublin is a three hour ride via bus.

Location is OK but wall in the room is very thin
I request twin room when I booked it. Website showed still have 10 rooms available. They didn't give it to me and said it is not guarantee. I think they just didn't read my message and when I do late check in was no twins room left. Wall was extremely thin. I stayed in a room which was 3 doors away from shower and I can hear the water sounds just like I was living beside it. It was terrible. And whole floor has no bin, the only bin was in the shower. Very inconvenience. €80 for 30 minutes walk to city centre, extremely thin wall, no hot water ( have to pay €7 extra to access kitchen) and no breakfast. I would not recommend

Inexpensive lodging in Galway. I did not have access to microwave nor refrigerator. Location has a laundromat but you have to purchase large sized bottles of detergent. There is a free shuttle to town but it stops running at 730pm. Most restaurants close by stop serving food after 9 PM. I arrived late and there was no shuttle and no food close by. Room was comfortable. Plenty of electric sockets. No television. I felt safe. Google maps directions to reception are wrong. It tells you to turn right when it should be turn left. Lovely time there. It's an excellent location to do lots of activities.

Uni dorm accommodation is AOK - it IS what it IS.
On a "flying" summer trip around Ireland, any "port-in-a-storm" is welcome. This was a bit rustic for my wife's liking, but it was clean and more than adequate. Excellent if fending for yourself as far as food and beverage are concerned.

Reasonably priced accommodation in expensive City.
Corrib Village is University Student accommodation available to the public during Holiday periods. It is basic but comfortable and clean. Galway is a very popular Tourist destination and as a result rooms are usually booked up and are very expensive. If, like me, you just need a place to sleep at night this is ideal, very close to the Centre of Galway and on the periphery of Connemara and the West. Continental breakfast was available in the tariff and the room included its own bathroom and toilet. If you wanted a Hotel with restaurants, Swimming pools etc. this would not be for you. If you wanted clean, basic accommodation in a City where Hotels have few vacancies and those vacancies that exist are usually very expensive, then this is the place for you.

Cheap accomodation, Good location
The grounds are beautiful with great trails offering views of old castles set against the river. The store, laundry and shop are conveninet. Building is old and squeaky so if you want to sleep in, have some ear plugs handy. Otherwise, well worth the low cost to stay here. Free shuttle fowntown is great too, but walking there is scenic and lovely as well.

Dirty, noisy, expensive
A campus let out in the summer and serviced by unsupervised students, costing Euros 90 a night. We never heard a Hoover or saw a mop during the four nights we were there. The inside and outside the room got sticky, the bathroom smelly. The party next door for three nights did not help. Awful breakfast (extra) btw.

Beautiful landscaping and view from my window!
Great location with a lovely 30 minute walk into city center all along the river and through the campus. If you're not into walking, they provide a free shuttle with a friendly driver that will take you from campus to city center on the hour every hour most of the day. Enjoyed being able to cook in the suite's kitchen too and the shop-store to buy various foods and groceries and travel necessities, like an umbrella! Would definitely stay again!

Unpleasant, dirty and uncomfortable
Booked two double rooms for two nights each. My friends ended up in a building the other side of the campus. Both rooms were dirty. One room had so many spiders, bugs and cobwebs we barely slept. The phone didn't work to call reception. The bathroom was disgustingly dirty, mould and unkept. The showers were cold. The fire alarm went off twice in two days and our keys stopped working half way through our stay. Paying for kitchen access is silly, even if you do the kitchen is dirty too. Honestly not worth staying here unless you want a very uncomfortable night sleep.

NUIG school visit
We were there to visit the campus because my son is in his final year in high school. It is a good choice if your child will be living on the campus so they get an idea of what it will be like. If you are looking for the "hotel" experience rhis is probably not the best place.

The room had shelves which had a layer of dust. And when they'd come to change towels (after we requested not to), they'd take both of ours, but only leave one. The free shuttle into town is nice, but limited hours.

Fine for a short period
The room is small with a single bed, the bedding barely covers the mattress. Graffiti all over the room. Bathroom was shared with three other rooms and when I arrived there was a mess in the toilet and a ball of hair on the floor. The doors are not sound proof at all, so you can practically hear your neighbours breathing (or up late talking on the phone). Wifi is pretty pretty dodged but did the job. Overall it was okay to lay my head here, but I was expecting something different.

Basic & Functional
room was very basic & functional, clean & very small en-suite. we had to pay extra to use the kitchen facilities including television which I thought mean-minded. As its in the middle of a university campus the area around it included lots of buildings but also some very nice walks, especially down by the Corrib & its within pleasant walking distance of Galway city centre.

Good, basic, budget accommodation
This is good but basic, budget accommodation. If you keep that in mind and set your expectations accordingly, you will not be disappointed. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the facilities perfectly adequate - although perhaps the shower tended to be a bit tepid. If you want an economical place to lay your head while you enjoy the many things Galway has to offer, then I would certainly recommend Corrib Village. Check in was quick and easy, the staff were friendly and helpful. There's an on-site cafe and shop, too. There's a frequent shuttle bus into town if you need it, but it's only a 25 minute walk - mainly a pedestrianised path through the university grounds, so it's quite pleasant and easy. The whole area feels perfectly safe, so walking is very much an option. In summary, if you prefer to save your money to spend in Galway, then this is excellent value. But it is budget accommodation. So if you want a TV in your room, tea and coffee, your own shower, luxury pillows and so forth, then stay elsewhere. But if you just want somewhere to sleep, don't mind sharing the bathroom and are going to be out all day, then this represents excellent value. I would certainly stay again if visiting Galway in the summer.

This is a hostel situated INSIDE the university. So, expect some noises that echoes in the atrium. There is NO hot water so don't expect to shower. The photos of the room may look like comfortable, but they are NOT. There was only 1 pillow provided and it's a flat one too.
