"Quiet luxury hotel in great location"
The rooms are spacious and light. Minimal furnishings but very modern, clean look. The hotel is only 5 months old. Previous guests had complained there were no hooks for towels but by the time we arrived that had been rectified. The owners/managers are paying attention to the reviews/comments. The WiFi was important for us and worked well. Breakfasts are included. While not on site, they were a 2 minute walk away at a full service restaurant. Breakfast options were perfect and the coffee is very good. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from 5th Avenue, the touristy walking street with many very good restaurants and a 5 minute walk from the beach. Towels and coupons for free beach chairs provided by the hotel. We would have been happy with a small desk since we were teleworking each morning. And one more chair. But this room was a very good value. I look forward to our next visit. I would definitely return to this hotel.

"Fantastic service"
Booked this hotel based on previous reviews and we certainly weren't disappointed. I normally don't write reviews of the hotels we stay in (and we've travelled the world), but the staff here deserve it. The hotel is kept immaculate. The swimming pool in the courtyard area is a haven. We had a room overlooking the road, but we didn't have any issues with noise. The hotel location is brilliant. It's a few blocks up from 5th so you can get away from it all, but everything is within walking distance. We got an ADO bus from Cancun Airport and I would recommend this method of transfer as it is so easy and convenient. You will be spoilt for choice with the quality of restaurants in Playa Del Carmen, but it's not cheap. The staff at the hotel definitely helped make our stay in Mexico perfect. They organised a number of trips for us at very competitive prices, recommended restaurants etc, but more than anything they were just so friendly and we had a real laugh with them. This is an amazing quality hotel at a very affordable price and I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you 'La Pasion' for our time in Mexico so wonderful.

"would stay again."
I really liked this room for the price that we got it for. I was nervous because there weren't any reviews on it and it was so cheap, but when we go there it was a huge room with two beds and air conditioning and a great shower. My complaint is that it is next to a night club and if you like to sleep in the hours of 1130 and 330 then this is not the hotel for you. Also the lock on the door is questionable at best but just lock the valuables in the safe. Overall i would stay here again for sure

"Nice 2-bedroom apartment close to beach. Noisy."
Family of four stayed for a week. Apartment was nice with a lovely roof-top pool. Only a few easy blocks to the beach. Staff were congenial. Right next to a major bus station which is noisy all night long.

"Great Staff but hotel was just so-so"
I have stayed in Playa Del Carmen a few times before and so I was familiar with the area enough that when I booked my vacation package, I wasn't too concerned about the hotel accommodations. I wanted to be close to the beach and 5th avenue where the bars, restaurants, and shops were. Since I am a solo male traveler and don't spend much time in my room, I am not very picky about accommodations, however, the design of this hotel was not very well thought out. It is kind of dark in the courtyard area. There was construction going on and it didn't seem to have any atmosphere to it. I would equate it to the "Motel 6" of Mexico. When I entered my room, I was disappointed because it was cold and "hospital" like. The only windows in the room were a set of french doors that opened to the pool area in the courtyard,...which was right near the hallway that was the entrance to the hotel, so unless I wanted everybody to see me sleeping and getting out of the shower, I had to have the shades pulled the entire time, so I got no natural light in the room. Also, the AC unit was positioned such, that the air blew right onto your head at night in bed.....which wasn't so bad except that it started to spit out droplets of water one night, making it a royal pain trying to put up towels to prevent the water from spitting on me all night long. I would probably not stay at this hotel again. I do want to reiterate that the staff was very friendly and the hotel in no way reflects the wonderful staff.

"Lovely building and pool, but too noisy for me"
The hotel is in a lovely colonial-style building with a nice courtyard pool. The rooms are spacious, and the beds large and comfortable. However, the whole experience was overshadowed by noise. The road out front is being dug up and the bone-jarring noise all day and into the evening is unreal. We could even feel the vibrations in the room! Also you can't access the hotel without clambering over planks of wood loosely laid over the roadworks. I really feel the hotel should mention this in advance - it's pretty galling to arrive to such mess and noise. On arrival we were allocated a room directly overlooking the roadworks, and with no fan. The room was stiflingly hot and smelled awful - damp and musty. I asked to change rooms and thankfully was able to. The new room was still noisy, but the ventilation worked. But the in-room fridge didn't work, and the coffee-making facilities included enough for just one cup! Aside from that, you're one block from 5th Ave so the noise all night from bars and clubs and people shouting in the street doesn't make for a good night's sleep. Glad to be just passing through for one night!

"Great overall"
This hotel was fantastic overall, the rooms are incredible but are missing a few things. There were a few days where we didn't get face towels or the bath mat... but a quick phone call to the front desk and someone came right up with towels. Also the Key Card system was a bit finicky... once the reader on the door ran out of battery and once the card got deactivated somehow. Again nothing major but a slight annoyance to have to go back down to get this fixed. Also the rooms are so huge and have this large sitting area with a bar, but no mini fridge so if you wanted to bring back some food or anything you had no where to store it. Also there is no mirror in this living/lounge area for you to use while someone else is using the shower since the shower and bedroom are all in one, it is not a separate bathroom area.
