Hotel was Spartan but comfortable and the location near food, public transportation, museums and two craft breweries meant you can spend very little time in your room!

Great stay!
Had a lovely stay here. It's pretty basic but that's all I needed. The main door is always locked and accessed with a code which I liked as it meant the hotel was nice and safe. It was the perfect location for getting around the city.

Loved the location, very clean and comfortable.. staff friendly and respectful. Was coming and going a lot during my stay and they always said hello and welcomed me back. Would definitely recommend!

A good experience overall
We had a good stay here, near to transport to go to the central area and interesting places. Staff were very friendly and professional, good breakfast, would certainly stay again. A good experience overall.

A great place to stay on a city break to Berlin!
A very welcoming and friendly family hotel. The staff, who all spoke English, were very accommodating. The room was an excellent size and very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and very fresh.

Good value in Fredricshein
Extremely helpful staff, lots of restaurants and cafes in the vicinity. (Especially good was Silo). Comfy bed and very clean room and hotel with 24 hour front desk. Downside was no air conditioning in particularly hot weather.

Great hotel in neighborhood with awesome food!
This was a great hotel in east berlin. A couple blocks from the u train subway line. It is tucked away near apartments of locals which was really cool to not be located by all of the tourist traps, not to mention awesome restaurants and little markets for food. The hotel was clean and newly renovated so it looked really nice. The staff was really helpful and friendly and even gave us complimentary champagne on my birthday. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again next trip. The only thing I would recommend is that if you like having the windows open for fresh air (no air conditioning or fans) request a room facing the courtyard instead of the street. The street out front has a tram and busy traffic all night long so it was very loud and we had a different time getting a good night's sleep. Overall great hotel!

My third stay at the Gold Hotel and the staff were as friendly and efficient as always. Great location with good transport links in the lively east. Will definitely stay here again.

Best neighborhood in Berlin
Everything it says it is. Very clean and the staff is sweet and accommodating. Breakfast is only ok and 10 euro extra, but we never had great breakfast in Berlin, so... Yeah. Great bars and restaurants nearby.

Good basic accommodation, fantastic staff.
We stayed at the Gold hotel for 5 nights, on holiday as a couple with friends. We booked the Gold Hotel as part of a package via Expedia, having read reviews 1st. The hotel was easy to find, a few minutes' walk from Samariterstrasse underground. The road is slightly away from the busiest roads in Friedrichshain, but close to bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel has a 24 hour reception, and you ring the doorbell for access. Check in was quick and smooth, and the staff are lovely. Our room was on the 2nd flr. Although we booked a double we had twin beds pushed together, each with a large single duvet #pretty standard for basic rooms in Berlin#. The room was clean and basic, although with no drinks making facilities. The room had a couple of disadvantages. The internal shower room #no bath or window# was small and could use updating. The curtains were very light and it was very bright in the room in the morning. Otherwise it was really nice. Something I really liked was that the room overlooked the communal garden for the flats in the block, and we could watch the locals enjoying their garden, playing with their kids, watering the plants. It felt rather intimate somehow. The location is great. We visited for a music festival at the Astra Kulturhaus, but the hotel's well positioned for general sightseeing, and the area is popular with visitors because of all the shops, galleries, bars and restaurants.

Gold Hotel was GREAT!
My husband and I stayed at the Gold Hotel for 7 nights. This was our first time visiting Berlin. The staff there do speak english well enough to be able to help you. The staff were great to us and told us about local spots to go to and were very helpful with directions and telling us where the subway station was. The hotel is in a great location, it is only about a 4 minute walk to train subway station and one block over is a park there and they had events going on while we were there, the hotel is surronded by bakeries, shops, and tons of good tasting restaurants! We were excited about our hotel room because when we booked it, it said one double bed, but when we got our room, it is two twin beds put together so we had a lot of sleeping room. there is no AC in the room, but the windows do open, our room overlooked the courtyard that is shared with the other buildings/apartments. the bathroom is very very tiny, only enough room to turn around in. it may not be the best for bigger people, as it is very very VERY small. BUT at least you have your own provate bathroom, that is hard to find in Berlin for a reasonable price, and my husband and I were very thankful that this hotel was affordable and we did not have to use one bathroom at the end of a hallway in a hostel.

had a great time at gold hotel.
Me and my brother order a double bed room at first, and I wrote a mail and they change it to twin bed room, that was a three bad when we came to the room. The room was big and we great toilets and shower. The location is great the breakfast is a good deal for 5 euro.

Good value - friendly staff
Gold hotel is a good value and fairly convenient location. It is not a five-star hotel but its rooms are clean, well-maintained and have free Wifi. Nearest subway station is about 10 min away. Breakfast is 5 € and it is actually pretty tasty. Staff is very friendly and speaks English. Overall, I would recommend it to any budget- minded traveler.

Friendly and handsome staff :-) the hotel is basic, but very clean and everything works. The reception was not open 24/7, that almost turned to be a problem because our arrival flight was delayed. Fortunately the reception wa still open for few minutes. No breakfast service, that was probably due to Covid.
