Stay here every summer. Not as clean as it used to be. Tub was full of hair and very musty smelling room. Needs a good renovation. Location is great.

The 1 Hotel is wonderful. Staff is friendly and the rooms and amenities therein are well thought out. The only knocks would be the noise if you have a room facing Bathurst (we did and were moved the next day), the inordinate amount of time it takes for their 1 Kitchen restaurant to prepare ANYTHING, and the loud music thumping in theoir fine dining restaurant Casa Madera (we left as it was too loud to speak). Otherwise, this a a wonderful spot, with GREAT staff

Our room came with a defective mini fridge that couldn't cool anything. Adjusting the dial and waiting a few hours did nothing. This should have been a minor inconvenience and a very simple fix. Instead, the hotel staff turned it into a soul crushing journey to a place where things like basic common sense, customer service, and customer experience have gone extinct and no longer exist. To be clear, this fridge, on the coldest setting, and after 4 hours, managed to get maybe 1 degree below room temperature. The staff explained to me the fridge is "supposed to do that" but they would send a tech up to look at it anyways to appease me. The tech arrived almost an hour later. He did not introduce himself but instead just barged into the room, opened the mini fridge door, saw the light come on and said "it works". I had to check in the mirror afterwards to make sure I hadn't sprouted a second head because when I suggested a fridge, which cannot lower the temperature of things, is not in fact "working", he gave me a look like I was from another planet. Anyways, after making my simple-minded suggestion that warm and cold are not the same thing, the tech, without a word, walked over to the room phone, called the front desk, told them the fridge was "fine", told them to "explain to me" that it's fine, and then held the receiver up to me... again, without a word to me! Lots of other options in downtown Toronto. Spend your money elsewhere.
