The Dragongate is in a great location, but prepare yourself for a pretty weird room. In my room there was only one window, which is a skylight 12ft above the bed (you can't reach it). This skylight provides bright, bright light from sun-up to sun-down, so you'd better be an early riser! The rest of the room is clumsily put together in a way that is too complicated to explain, but isn't necessarily bad.

Suggestion for those making a reservation at the Dragon's Gate. Do a walk-through of the room when they take you to your room. Especially the bathroom. If it's not acceptable, either ask for a clean room or to have staff come in and clean it correctly. Having said that and my explanation of what disappointed me, I would probably stay there again and make sure that I expect the room before I okay it. The property was easy to get to, it was in okay place in town, and it was convenient to get around Toronto from the property. What really disappointed me was the cleanliness of the Halls leading to our room, and the bathroom was kind of gross. The shower curtain was moldy, the color of the grout is black. But when I started to see the smudgingness and white tile, I wiped it, and there was mold that came off on my hand. Apart from the colored grout. The corners of the shower were slimy and gross. I don't think those walls have been washed correctly in a very long time. There were no washcloths. And the hair dryer didn't work. The manager did bring us another hair dryer. I told him about the condition of the bathroom, wanted to show them, and he would not come in and look. He would not come over the threshold for whatever reason. He told me that the Contracting Company weren't very good.

Review from someone who lived in Toronto and moved away but comes back constantly. This is a great place to stay if you want somewhere to sleep, that’s cheap and has everything you need. The surrounding area has so many different options for food and entertainment you really can’t go wrong. There are a lot of negative reviews for literally no reason. The owners are amazing and super kind. Showed us right to our room and explained everything we could need. It’s not the ritz but a decent place to sleep and go explore Toronto. If you’re looking for somewhere you want to spend lots of time in your hotel and want something fancy look elsewhere. But the reviews itself are not accurate. You know what you’re getting, it’s cheap and authentic for the area. I will be returning again as it’s exactly what I needed.

Property is more like an apartment building and the walls are incredibly paper thin. We were kept awake by an inconsiderate a-hole across the hall who blasted his tv and/or radio from 11:30pn to 4:30am, despite the manager telling him to lower it AND my wife banging on his door and yelling obscenities at him. We left after one night and will never revisit. Live and learn.

This property was a little sketchy. Hard to find the front door, and it seems like an old building converted into slapped up multiple bedrooms. Location is convenient.
