Toronto featuring a river or creek, night scenes and a high-rise building
Outdoor adventure, music and arts festivals, cultural attractions and more evening entertainment than you can shake a stick at – Toronto's got it covered.

Perched on the shores of the mighty Lake Ontario, Toronto is one of the most popular destinations in Canada. Drawing an eclectic mix of 21 million visitors every year, the formerly British Town of York has come a long way from its humble colonial beginnings.

The city is a multicultural melting pot as the neighbourhoods of Little Italy, Chinatown and Little Portugal will testify. This blend of cultures enhances the diversity of entertainment available, with a wide range of performances and concerts taking place on a nightly basis. As well as the usual mix of top-class theatres, museums and art galleries, this cosmopolitan city is also bursting with trendy cafés, excellent restaurants, hip bars and hot night clubs. Also, the city hosts a number of fantastic art and music festivals throughout the year. So, whether you are into cultural jaunts or just want to kick back and enjoy a beer with a bohemian twist, Toronto has it covered.

Culture vultures: kill two birds with one stone by exploring the exhibitions housed in the architectural masterpiece that is the Royal Ontario Museum. Art lovers: schedule in an afternoon at the Art Gallery of Ontario and examine over 400,000 photographic prints as well as a fascinating selection of art and sculpture.

Toronto has plenty of attractions to keep the whole family entertained, from the enchanting and magical Casa Loma to the pioneering Toronto Zoo. And, of course, no trip to Toronto would be complete without visiting the biggest and best theme park in North America Canada’s Wonderland is the perfect place for the whole family to let loose and have fun.

With the magnificent Canadian wilderness on its doorstep, Toronto is regarded as a gateway to nature so grab your gear and explore the stunning natural beauty of the Great Lakes and their surroundings. The city is also a fantastic springboard from which to explore neighbouring attractions. Hop in a car and drive to the spectacular Niagara Falls. At only an hour and a half up the road, this is the perfect opportunity to tick the famous falls off your bucket list.

There really is a huge amount to see and do in and around this amazing city so get organising your trip to Toronto now and you definitely won’t be disappointed.

As a single visitor, l felt safe going out and felt really glad that l didn't need to have someone with me. Although it was really nice to have a good friend take me to see Niagra Falls. I will be returning.

A great city, plenty to see and do. Locals are very friendly and helpful. Transportation can be quite restrictive if parts of the Streetcar network are out of action but this is rare.
