THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO TOKYU, A Pan Pacific Hotel

"First, the front-of-house staff are great, especially the bus driver. Everyone I interacted with was engaging, friendly, and very helpful. The design of the hotel is also excellent, and the location is very convenient, within walking distance of many things. I hate to say anything negative because the staff were so good, but there were a few issues during my stay. The springs in my first bed were worn and extremely uncomfortable, so the hotel kindly moved me to another room. The bed in the second room was in good condition, but unfortunately there was a significant housekeeping issue with the cleanliness of the sheets, which meant I had to change rooms again. That said, the manager was very understanding and appeared to take the issue seriously and act on it immediately, which I really appreciated. Overall, I can still recommend this hotel. The staff, design, and location are all very good, and I expect the housekeeping issue will be addressed. With a little more consistency in room and linen checks, this could very easily feel like a five-star experience."

"The room was a good size for Japan. We really liked the washroom set up..the fact that the toilet was in a separate room and there was a Japanese style washing area. It was great to have a sliding door to separate the two spaces. Storage was ample. The location was great for shopping and the hotel was quiet. We liked the lounge area in the other part with free coffee and soft drinks. The washing machines were greatly appreciated. Although they had check in machines there was always staff at the front desk to help with inquiries. Would definitely stay here again. Good value!! I’m"

"Absolutely adored my stay here only wish it was longer. Nicely remote because I find the tourists in Kyoto quite overwhelming and the sauna was lovely. Breakfast was also amazing and they accommodated my allergies without stress."

"Toyoko Hotels are usually great. They are clean, convenient, and affordable, and they tend to have lots of useful amenities or people who might have forgotten to bring something like a toothbrush or razor. This particular hotel has a really convenient location that's a short walk from several train stations and from a couple of very charming and pleasant shopping arcades. Miidera (三井寺) and Lake Biwa (琵琶湖) are also manageable walks. Otsu is a lovely and underrated city, and this hotel is in a really nice part of the city."
