We stayed in this lovely guest house for two nights as we were attending a family funeral. We arrived at about 3pm on the first day and were greeted by a lovely lady who explained where everything was and showed us to our room. We stayed for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. For us the location was perfect, we enjoyed the walk to the lake and into town, which took about 25 minutes through the lovely gardens of the hotel. We were enchanted by the garden and were lucky enough to look out over them from our room. The staff were very attentive and the facilities were excellent. The only downside is that there is no lift so if you can't do stairs you would need to request a downstairs room.

Lovely hotel and a short walk to Grasmere village. We had an executive King room which was very nice. Good size and spotless. Nice bar with reasonable prices (same food menu and prices as the restaurant but less formal and no need to book). We dined in the restaurant in the evening (need to book table in advance) and the service and quality of the food was very good. Portions were quite small but we didn't leave hungry and we didn't bother with starters as we had earlier had a quite big lunch...
