"Excellent Hotel"
My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights and had a really excellent stay. The room was very clean, the views from our room were fabulous and the staff were friendly but not overbearing or, more importantly, pretentious. Being located half way along the Royal Mile was also a huge benefit in terms of sight-seeing, pubs and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Edinburgh.

"Excellent hotel right on the royal mile Edinburgh."
Our stay at the Old Town Chambers edinburgh was probably the best so far. We regularly visit Edinburgh, we try and visit at least once every year normally during the Fringe festival. This time was our first with our daughter, and we were not dissatisfied. The Old Town Chambers catered for our every need and then some. We will return, thank you.

"Awesome"
If you want a hotel just like you would find in the U.S. - keep looking. If you want something totally unlike a typical hotel, book it. Its in Old Town. Its a very old building, but thoroughly modern inside, including the plumbing. Its a little quirky and different. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Restaurant on site reasonable/comparable to surrounding restaurants. The full Scottish Breakfast - complete with haggis is a good deal. When we got there, the courtyard was packed with a crowd to watch the World Cup on the big outdoor screen and drink. I thought, "oh, no, the noise...". Didn't hear a peep inside. Very quiet. But with foot-thick stone walls...I guess they made buildings quiet enough to withstand local battles, rebellions, etc.

"Amazing location, great accommodations"
The location of this hotel is superb. I walked outside, turned the corner, and was immediately looking at the St. Giles Cathedral. It's situated in the middle of the Royal Mile (the high street), and I was able to walk here from the train station, and walk everywhere I wanted to go in Edinburgh from the hotel. The accommodations are lovely as well. The room was very clean, well kept, and had all of the amenities I needed. It doesn't have AC but you don't need it - I stayed in the middle of summer and open windows were all I needed for cooling. Very clean and roomy (although you won't need to spend much time in the hotel in such a beautiful city). They had complimentary on-site self-serve laundry facilities as well, which is huge since hotel laundry service fees are always exorbitant.

"Good boutique style hotel, perfectly situated"
Overall really good. Hotel staff really helpful, especially assisting with luggage on arrival. Asked for upgrade from standard to superior room prior to the holiday. On arrival we got an upgrade to a junior suite for the same cost as the upgrade to a superior room, what a bonus ! Breakfasts offered a superb choice and was cooked using quality produce. Had dinner on Saturday night. Not as good as I'd hoped for the price. Two courses and one 250ml carafe of wine - £87 ! Both starters lovely, my partners main course superb. Mine much less so. Perhaps I just chose the wrong dish. I think we could have had just as good a meal in town for much less, but this didn't spoil our stay at the hotel and I would definitely return.

"Clean and cool on a hot day"
I took full advantage of the a.c. In the room to cool down between a hot walk from Waverley station with my luggage and more afternoon/evening time on the Royal Mile. Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Staff was very courteous and answered all my questions.

Pocket Guide: Edinburgh Old Town Hotels

With narrow, winding streets and alleys, this mediaeval district is a contrast to New Town. Acting as the main artery, the Royal Mile begins at Edinburgh Castle and ends at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Family’s residence. Many tourist attractions are found in Old Town including the National Galleries, Royal Museum, and St. Giles Cathedral.
