Yucatan Peninsula Golf Holidays

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. The best part of our trip was meeting people at the main pool parties. The pools were fantastic, the rooms were spacious, and we loved having access to the other Princess resorts and their amenities. Most of the restaurants were very good except Bruschetta, the Italian restaurant. We also want to recognize a couple of the bellmen who were genuinely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. Many staff members came across as cold and insincere. Housekeeping walked into our room without announcing themselves while my wife was only and partially dressed. Room service was hit or miss, arriving in 15 minutes one time and taking over an hour another. Restaurant service was frustrating, with long waits even when restaurants weren't busy while tables seated after us were served first. We scheduled luggage pickup the day before checkout, but no one ever came. The buffet food was average, the adults-only property smaller than expected, the drinks seemed to use lower-quality alcohol, and the beach had excessive seaweed and it was very stink. The resort has beautiful facilities and fun entertainment, but the poor and inconsistent service is the reason we would not stay here again. Playa del Carmen has way too many other properties with better services and staff.

We stayed for 9 nights and there was not a day without some kind of mistake or misunderstanding. The staff is very very polite and friendly, but they lack professionalism and training. Some servers in the restaurants don’t speak very good English, so that can be an area of improvement. The overall impression is that the whole operation is out of tune. Strong management and review of all aspects of operations is recommended. Alila is not on par with the rest of the Mayakoba hotels.
