I went with my partner to see a theatre performance in town, but our tickets were moved a day earlier due to social distance restrictions. We wanted to change our booking and was assured that was no problem even though we booking through Expedia; an hour later someone else called and told us this was not possible, and we would have to book a second night. The staff were friendly and it was an easy misunderstanding, but a few other miscommunications ensued: we tried to preorder dinner so we would not be late to the theatre, but no one told us that they were out of what we had ordered and so we had to change our order when we arrived; the kitchen assured us it would take only 15 minutes for our order to be prepared, but it took 25 and we were almost late for the performance; we billed the dinner to the room to save time and were charged for the wrong order on check-out; no one told us when the complementary breakfast was served, which we could easily have missed (it is only 8:00-9:30); and the wi-fi was very poor and we were not given the password on check-in.
It was a busy weekend for them and it was a generally pleasant stay as the staff were so friendly. Mistakes were quickly remedied and it all worked out in the end, but it could have easily have gone sideways and led to greater disappointments. It was also not the cleanest place and some fixtures in the room didn't work. Overpriced for the quality of stay at 80 quid a night.
