I had a great stay here; the staff were helpful, the room was clean, the breakfasts were ample. I have no complaints - just some advice for anyone who, like myself, wants to get to and from New York and prefers walking or public transportation over taxis. To reach the hotel, you need the 163 service from the Port Authority Terminal to Ridgewood (NOT the Paramus Arcola one); get off at Century Road (just after Alpine Drive), and either walk down Century Road or through the George Washington...

Have stayed there for over 12 years, staff are really helpful, excellent location, everything you need to buy within 1 mile.

Fantastic location as the hotel is close to subway station so can easily get anywhere, but it’s in a more peaceful part of town. There are loads of excellent restaurants and coffee shops around. Our room (two double beds) was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend and would definitely stay again.

It was just as I expected. It was not noisy at all (being so close to Times Square). I booked a room with a bunk bed and it was as small as shown in the pictures so definitely as expected. Stay was comfortable.

The hotel has no breakfast available, just a coupon for a coffe shop next door

Good location

I really appreciated this hotel being my base. The staff were phenomenally friendly, welcoming and helpful. That made a big difference to me as this was my first time in NY, on a ten day trip alone. A big adventure. The mattress was firm (very important) AND there were feather pillows. Close to travel and amenities. It’s listed as three star. I see it as four star. Very good value for money.

The hotel itself is clean and centrally located for NYC tourism in Times Sq. the staff are great, breakfast included was a good start to each day and the price we got through Expedia was a bargain. Be warned that there is a migrant shelter directly opposite the hotel which can be intimidating as large groups hang around outside - the hotel have a regular security guard and the NYPD are outside the shelter all the time.

Great location, friendly staff, nice and tidy rooms… will stay again

My daughter and I had a trip to New York for our big birthdays, hotel was very central close to port authority, walking distance to time square and many other areas. Hotel staff made our visit special for us and are very helpful , friendly , professional and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. I would avoid 9th Avenue at night time as it didn’t feel very safe .

Excellent location just four minutes’ walk from 9/11 Memorial Pools and Museum. Warm welcome from staff. Clean and comfortable room. Excellent bar area in the evening and efficient good value breakfast deli.

This is a fabulous hotel in a great location for pounding the streets of NYc. So close to Penn station. On arrival I was told about all the amenities that were included with the fee and the water and cookies were great. The rooms are small but that is NYC! Definitely be fine for 2 people. Great bathroom The bed was so comfortable and I slept really well and didn’t hear any noise from the streets. A great place to stay

Our stay at Pod 39 was very enjoyable. The hotel location is perfect. Quiet yet close to Grand Central, Chrysrel Building, Empire State and Times Square, lots of shop and eating out options nearby. The hotel itself is in good condition. Its highlight is the rooftop. In the morning the bar is closed but you can still go there and eat breakfast & enjoy the views. Downstairs they have another bar. In the morning there is a free coffee and tea and some breakfast options are available to buy like...

Stayed in the king room with Times Square view, it was perfect. Huge comfortable bed, very clean and spacious. As two women it felt very secure and safe, with staff at all entrances and key card needed to access lift and extra lock on the bedroom door, which was something I was looking for.

Such a great stay here. Right in midtown Manhattan in the heart of the action but at a really reasonable price. The room was small but immaculate. I requested a higher room with a view and the hotel did exactly that for us - the 21st floor with a beautiful view to wake up to. I would definitely recommend staying at CIVILIAN and I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, good pricing, friendly staff. If your are looking for a comfortable and modern stay with just the basics then I don’t see any reason to complain about this hotel. A very useful option to avoid paying a fortune in the more opulent hotels. They kindly extended my checkout until 12pm for no extra charge.
